And so it begins. Two teams are still in the hunt for the Stanley Cup. Avalanche and Lightning will soon begin their showdown in the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals.
The Avs made it through the playoffs with just two losses in the first three rounds. The club defeated the Predators, beat the Blues in six and then needed just four games to crush the Oilers in the Western Conference Finals.
The Lightning’s path to the final lap was very different. The Maple Leafs took them to seven games in the first round, but then the Panthers had no answer for Tampa Bay in a second-round sweep. In the Eastern Finals, Tampa Bay lost 2-0 to the Rangers but then clinched four straight wins to secure their ticket to their third straight Stanley Cup Finals.
Now, last season’s cup favorite will take on back-to-back cup winners in a highly entertaining series that will crown the 2021-22 NHL season.
