In the four-game Ledger of Week 10, the Blue Bombers continue their quest to keep their record unblemished, but that’s far from the only intriguing story.
The Tiger-Cats will also seek revenge on an Argonauts team that tripped them up in Week 9 with a couple of big plays in the second half. For more relevant betting information for this week, check out Week 10’s Best CFL Sports Betting Offers.
Thursday, August 11: Montreal Alouettes at the Winnipeg Blue Bombers – 8:30 p.m. EDT
The Alouettes lost the first part of that home-and-home series in Week 9 to the Blue Bombers, falling behind by a 35-20 score in a game that Trevor Harris threw for just 127 yards, leaving Dominique Davis to his due lingering back time injury.
The veteran signal caller has been training all Monday so will likely be fit for this rematch.
The Bombers had to deal with multiple interceptions from Zach Collaros for the second time in three games in Week 9, but the veteran also came through with two touchdown throws.
Just as importantly, Brady Oliveira continued his development as a legitimate lead back with a 17-92-1 performance on the ground, which he complemented with a 35-yard grab, and he’s now averaging 5.9 yards in his last three games achieved per carry.
Despite the fact that the Bombers needed 21 points in the fourth quarter against Montreal to remain undefeated in last week’s game, oddsmakers still have them as massive favorites for this home game by 12.5 points.
Friday, August 12: Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats — 7:30 p.m. EDT
The Argonauts went above .500 in Week 9 with a 34-20 comeback win over the Tiger Cats.
McLeod Bethel-Thompson delivered a second straight free interception and continues to nurture his burgeoning chemistry with Cam Phillips (4-85-1).
The game also marked the season debut of fast veteran Eric Rogers (3-30), who gives MBT another weapon when falling behind
The Ticats are grappling with the frustration of losing despite throwing in a 303-yard effort from Dane Evans and Don Jackson’s most complete game of the season so far, when he totaled 114 yards and a touchdown.
A blocked punt returned for a touchdown, however, and a game-changing late pick-six sealed Hamilton’s sixth loss.
Oddsmakers expect Hamilton to bounce back after a couple of games at home as the Ticats are 2.5-point favorites at the start of the week.
Saturday, August 13: BC Lions at Calgary Stampeders – 7:00 p.m. EDT
Apparently there is no team like the Edmonton Elks that can make the Lions look like world champions as they beat Chris Jones’ club for the second time this season, this time by a 46-14 score.
Nathan Rourke set new career bests with 477 yards and five touchdowns while completing over 90.0 percent of his throws, and he continues to use a charged passing attack that’s even stronger thanks to the return of veteran Bryan Burnham from the injured list in Week 9.
Conversely, the Stampeders are usually in good form as long as they can avoid playing the Blue Bombers, as they proved again in Week 9 with a 17-3 win over the Redblacks.
As the bottom line suggests, neither team had to settle on offense, even as fill-in running back Dedrick Mills put in a very convincing impression of Ka’Deem Carey with 132 yards on 18 touches.
The expectation is that the Lions will have an exponentially tougher time than in Week 9, as BC’s half-point road favorites clearly demonstrate.
Saturday, August 13: Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Elks – 10:00 p.m. EDT
The Roughriders had a Week 9 bye after conceding a 32-17 decision to the Lions in Week 8.
Saskatchewan has lost three straight games from a 4-1 start and veteran quarterback Cody Fajardo continues to struggle with a nagging knee injury. However, he may have a chance to win back both Shaq Evans (ankle) and Kyran Moore (knee) for this duel, which would strengthen the air attack overall.
It’s unclear what mindset the Elks will bring to this game after their second throttling by the Lions this season.
The 14-46 loss in Edmonton did exactly what could go wrong and the team’s offense clearly missed James Wilder Jr. (shoulder) and what he could do both on the ground and in the air.
Defense remains the Moose’s biggest Achilles’ heel, which makes the fact that they’re just a 5.5-point home underdog somewhat noteworthy.
