Twitch’s whirlpool meta may not be at the peak of its popularity when stars of the genre like Amouranth and Indiefoxx made it the biggest trend in streaming. But one streamer, Taylor Jevaux, has mastered the art of the hot tub — and it rarely involves ever being in front of the camera.
With over 1.6 million followers, Jevaux is among the top 20 most followed female streamers across Twitch – although over 1 million of those followers have increased significantly in May 2021, it may be the result of a follow bot or a bug on Twitch’s part.
Though viewership declined over the following 12 months as the Whirlpool meta faded, Taylor’s channel boomed again in 2022, with her average viewership growing as high as 8,500 in June.
But there’s something very quirky about Taylor’s stream that sets it apart from almost everyone else: she’s rarely actually there.

Whirlpool streamer stays away from camera
Although each stream lasts approximately four hours, Taylor is typically invisible for over 90% of that time.
Instead, she stands next to the camera and talks to viewers who spend hours simply staring at an inflatable hot tub.
Throughout the streams, Taylor will keep repeating that she’s “just in the process of moving forward” and do regular countdowns — often hitting zero, and then nothing happening. Sometimes the countdown just starts over.
As the chat spams messages like “scam” and “boring,” the number of views continues to rise. Is this a new Twitch meta? Just building a constant anticipation for the streamer that eventually shows up in a big reveal?
At one point Taylor will actually appear, usually to do bodyweight squats in the hot tub for about 5 minutes before immediately walking away from the camera again.
While Taylor stands to the side, on-screen messages inform viewers that she will be “on camera soon.”
What’s most bizarre is that viewership often peaks before Taylor shows up, and dips once she actually does the squats or whatever’s scheduled for the day.
Presumably that’s because people tune in to see how long it actually takes for the streamer to show up; Is the structure more exciting than the content itself?
Although Taylor draws more than 6,000 viewers and up to 9,000 viewers on most streams, Taylor’s on-screen subscriber count is also suspiciously low, showing just 41 subscribers as of July 14. However, according to Twitch statistics website StreamsCharts, Taylor’s subscriber count is actually the same as 1,200.
The chat on these streams is, perhaps unsurprisingly, quite toxic. Many viewers lament the long waits for Taylor to appear on camera and then become overly critical when she does make a brief appearance.
Taylor doesn’t seem to care one bit, though. She may have fully mastered the art of luring thousands of Twitch viewers at once — and it certainly works.
