Wouldn’t it be nice if the gaming industry had their own raids where the gaming community could officially announce the worst game of the year? To be perfectly honest, the number of contenders for the hypothetical awards keeps growing every year, just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse Lord of the Rings: Gollum in 2023, but then someone was released The last hope on Nintendo Switch – a game title that is now being hailed as the worst game of the year.
A badass The last of us Clone, The last hopeis now available on Nintendo Switch.
According to Kotaku, The last hope is actually a pretty bad clone of The last of us, and the game is much worse than originally thought. Not only does it look like an obvious copy of the aforementioned Game of the Year game title, but it doesn’t even feel remotely like a good copy – because we have to admit that there are some good imitations in the gaming space, e.g Fourteen days (PUBG), Forza series (Gran Turismo), And Bayonetta (Devil May Cry).
What’s even worse is that the game is only about 20 minutes long and the entire short narrative takes place in one street, making it the worst Nintendo Switch game ever and possibly even the worst game of 2023.
Don’t dismiss “static” narratives – and by that we mean stories that take place in one place or in a limited place – because they can be pretty awesome. 2004s Prince of Persia: Warrior Within used backtracking to great advantage, allowing an entire politically incorrect narrative to take place within a single fortress.
The worst game of 2023 also appears to have performance issues, leading us to wonder how someone managed to release such a short game riddled with technical issues on Nintendo Switch.
2007s The man from earth The film, whose narration makes you watch it twice in a row, fits almost entirely in a single living room. But the same cannot be said The last hope because the quality of the overall gameplay and narrative matches its rating as the worst game.

Aside from the flimsy and short narrative and blatant plagiarism, the worst game of 2023 also appears to be beset with performance issues, leading us to wonder how anyone, given the platform ratios, managed to put such a short game riddled with technical issues on Nintendo Switch to publish strict publishing rules and regulations.
As Kotaku reports, everything about the game feels awful like it’s never been tested, and most of the time you don’t even know if you’re being attacked or not as there are no signs of it.
It seems like someone just bought engine assets without giving much thought to the whole build process, threw everything in the pot, cranked the heat to max, and released whatever overcooked.
Unfortunately, this awful gaming experience is an indication that the indie gaming genre isn’t always full of underrated gems; Often the opposite is true as many games are lost before they even manage to capture the attention of the masses The last hope, Worst game of 2023, does it now.
We can only assume that the number of downloads associated with this game will increase after the release of this report as there is no bad publicity and there are always curious people who think it can’t be that bad after all.
Believe us: it’s bad, so save the $10 you would spend on the worst game of 2023 for the next Steam sale or something better on Nintendo eShop.
