I almost never look for luxury experiences when it comes to Road to CFB. The overall aim of the tour is to share familiar experiences that the average fan will have at each school over the course of their visit.
That means – if you’re offered luxury club seats, take them.

The TCU Legends Club
Just in time for the 2020 football season, TCU completed a $100 million renovation of Amon G. Carter Stadium. The Legends Club (pictured below) was part of this renovation and will be fully utilized for the first time this year. It is definitely designed for the upper class of society.
To get to Legends Club, guests take a whole different entrance, elevator, everything; God forbid we mess with the peons. The elevator is adorned with an elegant TCU logo that takes you three floors up to the lobby.
The lounge itself features dozens of TVs like a high-end sports bar with relevant games (in this case, Iowa State in Oklahoma). It’s an open plan two-story lounge, but access to the upper level is even more upscale for the reserved suite boxes.
Food and drinks are a complement for Legends Club fans. A carving station of brisket, turkey, sirloin, and sausage made up the main course, with buffet stations featuring macaroni and salad, among other options. They also had a jambalaya station, a wing bar and a nacho bar. If I told you I was holding back with so much food available I would be lying.
Smartly, the alcohol isn’t complementary: It’s $8 for a domestic beer, $9 for a glass of wine, and $11 for spirits. Those are typical stadium prices, but it’s hardly a thought for most Legends Club fans. After all, these are TCU’s top alumni and donors we’re talking about.

TCU 31, Kansas 28
2021 hasn’t been good for TCU, and so late in the season against the caliber opponents they were, fans were starting to get sick of the frogs. Longtime head coach Gary Patterson was relieved of his duties a few weeks earlier and you can see how the crowd reacted below.

One of the perks of a sparsely populated stadium is that the luxury seats get even more luxurious – I wasn’t sitting close to anyone else. I stopped by with a beer or two and watched the most comfortable football game of my life.
The Horned Frogs hosted the Kansas Jayhawks for their last home game of the 2021 season. Kansas were hot for a big Texas upset in Austin and the majority of, well, Everyone assumed the TCU would walk over them.
Not the case.
Kansas came out swinging, leading 14-7 at halftime and leveling the game with 28 with less than five minutes to go. TCU then went on a drive that consumed the rest of the clock, kicking the game-winning field goal with just seconds left.
Post-game fireworks were a must on a gorgeous north Texas night.
I can now say that I experienced a game day from all sides of TCU. I won’t get used to suite life, but I can’t say I could skip this one if offered again.
And with that, the 2021 Road to CFB regular season comes to an end.
