Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 has just launched and the lack of new and original content is starting to become a dangerous trend.

After months of waiting, fans finally got their hands on it Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 last week, and opinions have been a bit mixed. While Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has just received a spate of new content, including a new Resurgence mode and the all-new Ashika Island map. Modern warfare 2 wasn’t that lucky. Aside from a new Battle Pass and a handful of new weapons, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 didn’t really add much to the game, and what it added isn’t entirely original.

for months Modern warfare 2 Players have been desperate for more maps to be added to the game’s multiplayer mode. And while Infinity Ward has made some efforts to accommodate those requests, it could have been handled a little better. Season 2 added a total of four new maps to the game, two of which are direct copies of it Warzone 2.0 POIs, one of which is a remake of an old one Modern Warfare 3 map, and only one of them is a completely original map that many had already played during the game’s beta. That’s pretty clear to see Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 needs more original content.

At the start, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 had a solid number of original maps. On day one, players could dive into 10 different multiplayer maps, each one call of Duty playlist has its duds, Modern warfare 2 had a surprising number of hits. While these cards are deeply loved by the community, there has been a desperate lack of original cards in the game, and now this problem has only gotten worse.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 just added two new 6v6 maps to the game, the first being a remake of Modern Warfare 3‘s Dome and the second Valderas Museum, a map that fans have already played on Modern warfare 2‘s beta. To make matters worse, this remake of Dome essentially just highlights the area Warzone 2.0. While remake cards have an element of nostalgia, they shouldn’t be the only card additions each season. call of Duty has always prioritized original content first, and Modern warfare 2 ventures into dangerous territory by relying too heavily on nostalgia to satisfy fans.

Remake cards are more than fine, and they can even help bring back old fans, but they shouldn’t be the focus of a new one call of Duty Game. Thankfully, Infinity Ward has teased an all-new card for Modern warfare 2 Season 2 Reloaded, so hopefully this marks the start of some original content additions.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
