Resident Evil 4 Remake announced for March 24, 2023
Sony set the tone for today’s State of Play from the start by revealing that Resident Evil 4 Remake is not only real, but will be out on March 24th next year. We’ve received news of a new trailer showing Leon Kennedy and the setting of Resident Evil 4 in beautiful 4K. While the trailer looked pretty dark compared to the original game, it also looks pretty faithful to the original, with several recognizable locations featured throughout.
Final Fantasy 16 is coming in Summer 2023
The rest of the show was jam-packed with exciting announcements, but to top it all off, there was an incredible trailer for Final Fantasy 16. Not only did it show off some of the gameplay, but it dazzled us with spectacular set pieces and absolutely ferocious battles between giants. We’ve also learned that the game will be out sometime in the summer of 2023, although a specific release date hasn’t been announced. Other big announcements from the show include another look at Street Fighter 6, Marvel’s Spider-Man coming to PC, and The Callisto Protocol launching this December.
Dragon Age 4 is officially called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf
Away from the State of Play now and BioWare also had some big news to announce as it revealed the official name of the next Dragon Age game. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is the name of the game as of now, but BioWare was also pretty quick to clarify that it wouldn’t be releasing in 2022. Instead, the developer promised more details about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf sometime this year, so it’s possible we’ll get more information at an event like The Game Awards.
The Sims 4 Werewolves are officially revealed
Speaking of wolves, The Sims 4 finally revealed the addition of werewolves earlier today, although the surprise was pretty much non-existent at the time. The Game Pack will include a new world called Moonwood Mill and will allow Sims to transform into werewolves, grant them unique abilities and experience wolf-specific events. Not everyone is very happy with the pack, however, as these new werewolves are compared to dodgy fursuits and Cats lookalikes.

Gotham Knights get a new reveal at Summer Game Fest
Finally, you may be recovering from today’s State of Play, but this is just the beginning of what promises to be some pretty exciting weeks for gamers. Summer Game Fest is the next big event, and creator Geoff Keighley has announced that Gotham Knights will be getting a brand new reveal. Thoughts on the game have been quite mixed following its initial reveal last month, so hopefully next week we’ll get a better sense of what the game actually is like.
