Ghostbusters: Life After Death Director and co-writer Jason Reitman has shared an exciting update with fans of the franchise.
Yesterday’s Ghostbusters Day (June 8th), Reitman – son of the original ghostbusters Director Ivan Reitman, who died earlier this year, and co-writer Gil Kenan have revealed the working title for the upcoming chapter.
Released in 2021 with mostly positive reviews, life after death gets a direct sequel with a name inspired by the original films.

“The code name for the next movie is ‘Firehouse,'” Reitman said The Hollywood Reporter. “The reference, of course, is the Ghostbusters’ headquarters in the two ’80s movies.”
Kenan then revealed that the story for this upcoming movie had been in the works for a while.
“We write as fast as we can,” said the author. “We had the story before we were done life after death. And we made this with the same care that went into building it life after death into a worthy sequel.”
The duo were also able to confirm the return of one of the OG ghostbusters who will star in the sequel after it appears life after death.

Ernie Hudson will reprise his role as Winston Zeddemore, a role he first played in 1984 ghostbusters as part of the legendary roster completed by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and the late Harold Ramis.
“The character of Winston Zeddemore and Zeddemore Industries plays an important role in the future of Ghostbusters,” said Reitman.
