1. New details revealed about the upcoming Princess and the Frog Ride
Earlier this year we learned that Disney may be targeting a 2024 opening date for the new Princess and the Frog ride at Walt Disney World (and Disneyland), and now Walt Disney Imagineer Charita Carter has shared a few things about what fans can expect from this upcoming one ride can expect. According to Carter, the ride will build on what was done with the animated film and include a “next chapter” that will add depth to the character of Tiana. More information on this upcoming attraction is expected to be released later this summer closer to the D23 Expo event.
Splash Mountain is still operational at the Magic Kingdom, but with more information about this attraction to be released very soon, it seems likely that there will be a closure in the near future, especially if rumors of a 2024 opening are true. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
2. New Star Wars destinations teased for Star Tours
During a Disney Parks panel at the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim last week, Imagineer Scott Trowbridge said Star Tours will continue to evolve and teased that new destinations could be coming to the attraction, located at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios can be found. in the future. No word on what those scenes might be, but with series like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi continuing to do well on Disney+, it doesn’t seem out of the question that new stations inspired by these shows could be in the works.
3. The 4th of July Day comes to Harmonious at EPCOT
This year, EPCOT is celebrating Independence Day with a special fireworks display on July 4th at the end of the all-new Harmonious Nighttime spectacle. As with the previous IllumiNations tag (which was last performed in 2019), this special ending will feature additional pyrotechnics being fired from behind the American Adventure as well as from barges in the lagoon at the end of the show for an extra patriotic ending to the show.
4. Disney celebrates America! – “A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” returns to Magic Kingdom
Speaking of July 4th, Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky returns to the Magic Kingdom on July 3rd and 4th at 9:20 p.m. The special Independence Day show will run in lieu of Disney Enchantment on those two days in celebration of the holiday.
