Street Fighter fans are probably raving about everything they’ve seen or heard about Street Fighter 6 so far. The game was first announced in February with a “massive” teaser starring Ryu and Luke. Eventually, we learned that Chun-Li and Jamie will also be part of the roster along with an open world feature. We recently learned at Summer Game Fest that America’s hero Guile will be joining the fight.
However, fans of the series were eagerly awaiting a certain piece of information that has now seemingly been revealed. According to streamer and fighting game fan Maximilian Dood, Street Fighter 6 will reportedly feature crossplay. Dood tweeted the information and said it came straight from the developers. It’s not hard to believe that the developers could have revealed this to him given his reputation in the fighting game community.
tweeted out that it will also contain rollback netcode. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, rollback netcode is a type of technology that tries to neutralize latency. Simply put, your console essentially predicts what actions your opponent will take during online sessions to avoid input lag. This is especially useful in fighting games like Street Fighter 6 that require precise timing.
Additionally, GameSpot Managing Editor Tamoor Hussain, who got hands-on experience with the game at the Summer Game Fest,
Street Fighter 6 appears to be bringing the “street” back, as a brief look at the gameplay revealed elements of an open-world metro city that players can traverse and even perform simple moves. World we saw was reminiscent of the open world mode that came with Mortal Kombat: Deception and Armageddon.
Unfortunately for Capcom – which appeared to be planning a reveal for individual character reveals – the game’s entire roster was leaked online. The list includes familiar faces like Ryu, Ken, Zangief, Dhalsim, Honda, Blanka, Guile, Chun-Li, Cammy, Dee Jay, and Akuma, as well as newer ones like Rashid and Luke. Jamie was only recently introduced, while six of the characters on the leaked list are entirely new. Character descriptions have also been leaked in case you want to get an idea of the new fighters.
