star trekTeasers for the fourth film circulated earlier this year and since then, fans have been eager to learn more about this upcoming installment.
It appears that after multiple delays and reports of conflicting films, a fourth chapter from producer JJ Abrams is well underway at Paramount, studio head Brian Robbins has confirmed.
“We’re deeply invested in JJ Abrams and it feels like we’re getting closer to the starting line and excited about where we’re going creatively,” the executive shared diversity.

The new film is being helmed by Marvel’s WandaVision Directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires based on an earlier draft by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson.
Star Trek 4 is set to be a full-length sequel, with the stars of the 2009 film Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto returning as Kirk and Spock.
“I’m a research nerd, and the data tells me audiences want that cast in this movie,” Robbins said of the decision to bring that cast back.

It was a move that also surprised the cast, as Pine revealed he’d learned about a fourth film along with the fandom.
“I find [the cast] was like, ‘Have you heard about that?’ We’re usually the last to find out, but I know we’re all excited,” he said in March this year. “Anytime they want to send us a script, we’re ready for it.”
Originally scheduled for June next year, Star Trek 4 is now scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2023.
