Samuel L. Jackson is still filming his upcoming Marvel projects and will be returning to the UK later this summer for more filming.
Samuel L. Jackson has a busy schedule ahead of him in the future of the MCU, starring in Secret Invasion on Disney+ and as part of The Marvels. As the franchise’s only star since the launch of Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, Jackson’s portrayal of Nick Fury has been ubiquitous in the comics saga, but it has taken until now to become a pivotal one Character. While it was initially thought Secret Invasion would be released on Disney+ this year, Jackson’s latest update on filming suggests the show won’t land until early 2023. This schedule could also help explain why Marvel Studios and Disney decided to swap the releases of Quantumania and The Wonders.
Secret invasion will be the first MCU project to take place partially during the blip when half the world – including Fury – was dusted off. There has been much speculation as to how this will affect Fury’s appearance on the series, including whether Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) will take Fury’s form for the main part of the story, as we know he does throughout the series Events from Spider-Man: Far From Home. It’s also now suspected that the series will explain why Fury was off-world in the post-credit scene of Tom Holland’s second Spider-Man film, and that will lead right in The wonders.
Appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jackson was able to give a small update and it seems there is still a little way to go before filming on both projects is completed. After toying with Kimmel and acting shocked to learn he was about to star in a Disney+ show, Jackson said:
“No. I am not ready yet. I’m on my way back to London sometime in August. But I have to go back and do stuff for The Marvels and then I have to do stuff for Secret Invasion.”

Thanks to many connections between various Marvel Studios releases, the actual schedule for movie and show premieres has always been something planned as far in advance as the storylines.
