e often see our favorite stars in their finest evening wear at various red carpets, film promotions and premieres. More often than not, these stars are praised for their stunning fashion choices. And that leaves us with the question, who exactly is picking out these artfully stylish outfits? That’s where celebrity stylists come in. These days, celebs rely on stylists to work their magic and create a signature look that not only catches everyone’s eyes but also sets them apart from the rest.
Just recently, actress Saba Qamar was spotted looking absolutely stunning for her latest movie Kamlis Promotions and film premiere. Celebrity stylist and image consultant Alishay Adnan was responsible for finding such stylish moments for the talented and versatile actor who did a phenomenal job in the film.
We caught up with Alishay who has been styling for almost seven years and is the mastermind behind styling Saba for her recent gigs.
Alishay started her career as a stylist at Daraz.pk and eventually became a marketing manager for women’s fashion. “I’ve always had a passion for styling, so after my job I started my own business and have been a stylist ever since. It was great because I like working with different people, different brands and different projects. I feel that my creativity only grows when I put myself in different situations and around different people,” she says instep
Celebrities she has worked with include names such as Mahira Khan, Iqra Aziz, Sanam Saeed, Ayeza Khan, Urwa and Mawra Hocane, Syra Yousuf, Hania Aamir and Ayesha Omar, among others.
For the media trip, Alishay wanted something more fun and playful. “Even though it was a pant suit again, I went for a very bright orange and colour-blocked it with a pink shirt. The main idea was to spread happy and summery vibes,” she shares. “For her hair, I went for a youthful look – high ponytail, half-dyed hair with a nice blow-dryer. I felt fresh makeup like light pink lips and flushed cheeks would go well with the overall look, so we went for that,” she adds.
The first event was the press conference and according to Alishay Adnan, Saba Qamar likes to dress according to her personality. “She’s very brave, adventurous and likes to take risks,” she says. “I didn’t play it safe and went for a zebra print suit and paired it with a neon shirt because it showcased her bold personality and the way she carried the look was so amazing,” explains the stylist. As for her makeup and hair, Alishay opted for a soft makeup look and a slicked back ponytail that exuded confidence.
This look was created for a photo shoot and Alishay opted for an all white ensemble simply because it screamed sophistication. “I wanted to keep it classy but with a twist. So I added a playful element by going for a printed shirt with a dramatic collar,” Alishay continues, adding that she wanted the collar to stand out and show the print. “I styled it to reflect Saba’s bold personality and add that zest to her whole look. Since everything else was already going towards the sophisticated side, I tried to go for sexy in terms of her makeup and hair. I gave her a gelled back hair look for that androgynous strong woman vibe.”
The film premiere was obviously a dream come true. Alishay reveals she chose an outfit by designer Zain Hashmi, whom she recently discovered. “I think his work is so phenomenal and brave. I love how he plays with cuts that are very feminine – perfect for someone like Saba Qamar. So for the premiere, I chose a fitted, off the shoulder dress that accentuated her hourglass body and made her collarbones stand out so beautifully. In addition, the color complemented Saba’s golden complexion. We gave her a cape just to add some character and drama to the outfit.” The hair and makeup were all about soft curls behind the ears and a very radiant dewy look with defined eyes, natural lip color and perfect contouring, to accentuate her facial features. For accessories, the stylist chose diamond and emerald earrings from Sherezad Jewellery, which complemented the whole look well.
