Royal Ascot is back for 2022 and guests look happier than ever to return to the famous equestrian event – the first full attendance since 2019.
Every June, celebrities and members of the royal family are spotted enjoying the events in the sunshine. It’s a well-known fact that Her Majesty is a huge fan of the races herself, having won around £7million from horse racing over the last three decades (check back here how the Queen has enjoyed Royal Ascot over the years).
Although the Queen herself was not introduced on opening day at Ascot this year, she released a statement saying how “delighted” she was to welcome crowds back. “I’m very grateful for the continued kindness that the racing community has shown me,” she said. “I hope you all have an enjoyable and memorable time and I wish the best of luck to the horse associations running this week.”
Of course, the races served not only as a showcase for the horses and jockeys, but also for the guests, who could wear their favorite clothes and finery. And while trends may change with each passing year, the rules in the royal enclosure remain the same: hems must be knee-length or longer, shoulders should be adequately covered, and most importantly, never arrive without a hat. If you’re attending this year, be sure to read our guide to the best British milliners to make sure you look your best.
If you love seeing what guests are wearing to the races, then sit back and relax (perhaps with a glass of champagne) to see the best style to be seen at this year’s Royal Ascot – and, if you want more Ascot excitement then explore how racing fashion has changed over the years.
