Avenue FC trumped at home this season, defending their RBDSFL Division One championship title and also taking home the Christine Robinson Memorial Trophy, Chris Shyne Memorial Trophy and the Manchester FA Sunday Challenge Shield
Heywood-based Avenue FC made history by becoming first in the Manchester League and the Rochdale, Bury & District Sunday League to win four times in a season.
The team trumped home that season, defending their RBDSFL Division One championship title and also taking home the Christine Robinson Memorial Trophy, Chris Shyne Memorial Trophy and the Manchester FA Sunday Challenge Shield.
Chairman Brian Farrell, who founded Avenue in 2014, said: “I am overwhelmed by the pride in the achievements and achievements our little community club has accumulated this season.
“Since 2014 we have all worked hard on and off the pitch to get to where the club is today. The mighty quadruple for the Sunday First Team, taking home our third straight league, two of which were Premier titles, the League and Division Cup, plus the night we become county champions at Hyde United, which was long in memory will remain.
“To get even better for the club, our Sunday Seconds achieved a league and cup double. Along with these awards, the RBDSFL’s success and dominance was a piece of history that is now being created as they are the only club to have won everything they could in a single season domestically across the two teams.
“Sunday football at the Avenue has become a huge attraction and as club president and goalkeeper for Sunday’s first team I can only say that the word ‘ecstatic’ would be a bit of an understatement.
“I want to say thank you to all the players, staff and volunteers and a special thank you to all the guys who support us and have become part of Avenue FC history as a big team.”
Club secretary Gemma Tobin added: “I am proud and honored to be club secretary at Avenue who not only defended the RBDSFL Division One title this season but also made history and won a fantastic quadruple.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this season and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch the players and management celebrate their success. Everyone involved with Avenue deserved the awards this season and they all played a big part in bringing those trophies home.
“I would also like to mention our second team, who also successfully won the Division Two title and Divisional Cup this season, and our Saturday team, who won promotion to Division One of the Manchester Football League in their first season.
“It’s been a fantastic year for the club and we look forward to doing it all again next season.”
Avenue plays in the Manchester League on Saturdays and the Rochdale, Bury & District Sunday League on Sundays.
