I know that’s overkill.
I know that’s a false analogy.
I know it probably has something to do with how my mind and body have been turned upside down for the past two years by officials in Washington and Sacramento, California.
But honestly, I find it hard to see much difference between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin.
Putin talks tough and fires cruise missiles at Ukraine to destroy Ukraine’s economy.
Biden speaks loudly, telling countries like Saudi Arabia not to laugh at him and issuing executive orders in the United States to destroy our economy.
Biden has already hit us with his most destructive economic weapon – the A-bomb of 9% inflation.
And his administration’s blind assault on America’s oil and gas industries quickly tipped the country from a state of energy independence to one of energy dependence.
Now he is shamelessly – and desperately – abusing his executive power to try to buy votes for Democrats in the November 8 midterm elections.
The chief pimp has promised to forgive $10,000 in college debt for millions of students, costing future taxpayers at least half a trillion dollars.
He just made a big deal out of pardoning low-level drug offenders — though his political stunts actually only affect about 6,500 people in federal prisons who have been charged with possession of marijuana, not the much higher number of drug offenders in state prisons.
And now, taking a page from California’s “progressive” playbook, Biden is pandering to the unions in trying to impose AB5 — one of my state’s dumbest and most unfair laws — on the entire country.
Last week, his Department of Labor announced a new rule that could make it likely that businesses in every state will have to copy AB5 and classify part-time workers as full-time employees, meaning that by law they will be guaranteed higher wages and benefits.
It also means that many gig workers — who chose to work part-time for Uber as contract workers or as freelance actors or writers — will be laid off or never hired in the first place.
California, they rightly say, is where most new American ideas come from.
But unfortunately, as Gov. Gavin Newsom proves every two months, ideas born here that have to do with government, transportation, immigration, the environment and public health are usually expensive, dumb and semi-tyrannical. .
For Biden, copying everything the former Golden State does is a very good way to hurt the rest of the country.
I’m afraid the president is quick to tell us that to keep the planet from burning, we won’t be able to buy a new gas-powered car in the United States after 2030, as Newsom recently told Californians.
It truly amazes me that Californians — and all Americans — aren’t marching in the streets to protest what Newsom, Biden and Democrats in Congress have done to make our lives miserable over the past two years.
Whether it’s the failed war on COVID, the war on fossil fuels, the war on gun rights, the war on the cops, the war on parents of school kids or the war against common sense, Biden and his masters seem determined to do their best to make America less great.
Our president thinks he’s a badass, but deep down he really is a bad guy. A mean guy who’s spent half a century selling his political power to whoever will pay for it – and still can’t stop.
Everyone knows that his serial executive orders are meant to affect the upcoming elections in less than four weeks.
Democrats are right to be terrified that Republicans, Independents and ex-Democrats will punish them harshly on November 8 for their mistakes and crimes against the country.
Pray that the midterm results will save us from two more years of the Democrats’ reign of incompetence, wars, stupidity and lies – and make America more like California.
