In terms of distance, Sacramento is the Pacific Coast League city closest to Tacoma. But oddly enough, the Rainiers haven’t been here this season — until now, at Game #91.
The Tacoma Rainiers open a six-game series with the Sacramento River Cats tonight with the first pitch scheduled at 6:45. Tacoma and Sacramento have only played one series this season, a 3-3 draw at Cheney Stadium in late May.

YESTERDAY: Tacoma was gone yesterday — probably a good thing after Round Rock wrapped up a three-game win over the Rainiers with a 5-1 decision on Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium. Tacoma was held by just three hits Taylor Trammel‘s solo home run in the eighth inning was the only thing that kept the Rainiers from being shut out for the first time this season. New starting pitcher Adam Oller looked solid in his Rainiers debut and got off to a good start, going through six innings and conceding three runs, but conceded the loss.
TODAY: Tacoma Rainiers (44-46, 7-8) at Sacramento River Cats (40-49, 6-9), 6:45.
