Happy Friday and I hope Yinz is doing well.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason action is in full swing with a week one win over the Seattle Seahawks, 32-25 in exciting fashion. QB Kenny Pickett in particular impressed when he threw the game-winning touchdown to WR Tyler Vaughns. Pickett and Pittsburgh will try to keep things going this Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars in what will be the team’s select game. Of course we cover the rest of the way for you.
I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed following our continued coverage. Thank you for visiting the site and we appreciate all of your great feedback. As always, we have five Friday night questions to answer for you.
Peace and love, peace and love!
1 – Steelers quarterbacks combined for four touchdown passes against the Seahawks. Will Jacksonville quarterbacks be over or under (or with) that number?
2 – Jaylen Warren has garnered a lot of attention this summer, but his fumbling has been a cause for concern. Will he fumble in this weekend’s game?
3 – Pittsburgh’s run defense allowed for more than six yards per carry against Seattle. Over/under 5.0 YPC allowed against the Jaguars.
4 – Based on what you heard/read/saw, who was the Steelers’ most standout player at boot camp?
5 – Which Steelers Receiver Will Gain the Most Yards (Receive + Rushing)?
Recap of the first game of the 2022 preseason on Friday night 5 questions
Question 1: Steelers Depot respondents are most looking forward to seeing George Pickens play in the preseason opener. And what a treat! His catch of Mason Rudolph’s pass into the corner of the end zone showed great awareness to secure the ball and keep his feet in the inbound. Another catch on the sidelines was another example. Both were big league receptions. Mitch Trubisky, another player we wanted to see. He led the Steelers’ opening drive for a touchdown!
Question 2: Depot respondents, by a vote of 11-8, expected Kenny Pickett to throw a touchdown pass on his debut. Kenny threw not one, but two touchdowns, including the game winner. He’d pumped fans chanting “Kenny, Kenny!”
Question 3: Most people predicted that Jaylen Warren would lead the Steelers, followed by Master Teague. They both ran well, averaging over five yards per carry on six tries apiece. But Steve Sims passed them with a 38-yard scamper. However, it was Anthony McFarland who took the lead with 56 yards on seven carries, including a 24-yard rush on a third and a play during the opening run. Hats off Hoptown, Lone Pine JBand Jerry Reid make the right call. These types of predictions will earn you points in the upcoming Friday Night Five Quests regular season competitions.
Question 4: The defense didn’t play very well, but sacked the Seattle quarterbacks three times. Mark Robinson’s strip sack provided the revenue that led to Kenny Pickett’s groundbreaking drive.
Question 5: Everyone but me actually said the Steelers were going to win. I predicted a draw. But how sweet to be wrong on that question.

For those interested. Once the regular launch begins, Steelers Depot will launch the Friday Night 5 Questions contest administered by David Orochena (Beaver Falls Hosiery). For the third year – we will have weekly winners!
Here’s how it will work:
Every week we ask five regular questions with an additional tiebreaker. The person with the best score is the winner. In the event of a tie, the person who comes closest to the tiebreaker wins. If there is a tie, the weekly $25 pot is split evenly.
We will also be tracking cumulative points for correct answers throughout the questions asked on the Friday before the final game of the regular season. Answering all five regular questions correctly will earn you a five-point bonus to your total score. The tie-breaker questions are not part of the total score. Steelers Depot awards a point each week when a respondent answers the questions—a participation point. The competition begins with the Five Questions on Friday evening September 9, 2022.
Once Beaver Falls Hosiery “Likes” your response, it is recorded in a spreadsheet. Sometimes people revise their answers before starting. If you need to edit an answer, the best way to ensure we’re recording your final answers correctly is to reply to your original answer and NOT edit it.
In general, the answer window for game-related questions will remain open until kick-off. Steelers Depot may set other cutoffs for questions such as active vs. inactive players that occur before kick-off.
Steelers Depot reserves its sole discretion over the grading of questions and the overall score for each question. Just a profile name can collect points (no splitting between grips). let’s have fun We’re offering a cash prize for the top three finishers, but you must have a PayPal account to collect it. First Prize: $100; Second Prize: $75; Third Prize: $25.
Some of Steelers Depot’s respondents are independently wealthy or just really nice people. They can choose not to collect their winnings. In this case, or for unclaimed winnings, monies will go to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. If you would like to give your profits to another charity, please collect and donate directly. Alternatively, you can toss your winnings back into the cashier to spice them up.
