CARY, NC (WGHP) – A new movie theater with one of the largest screens in North Carolina opens in Cary next month, and it won’t be your average cinema experience.
Paragon Theaters will open a location at 21 Fenton Main St. in the Fenton development, its second location in Cary, on July 1, according to the Triad Business Journal. Tickets are $6 for a limited time after the grand opening before changing to the site’s standard price: adult tickets start at $11.77.
The theater will showcase its Axis15 Extreme Theater with a massive 66-foot wide screen that it says is “one of the largest in NC” and a seating capacity of 200 people. The theater will feature 4K laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound technology.
Similar to “luxurious first-class flight suites,” according to the company, there will be pod-style seating with love seats or individual seats that recline electronically. The loveseats have privacy wings and retractable tables for each guest.
Moviegoers can order food directly to their seat in the auditoriums or dine at the theater’s 120-foot indoor and outdoor bar, accessed from the common plaza. The bar also has a fire pit and water feature, as well as a 15-foot screen for outdoor movies and presentations of sporting events.
“Fenton’s focus on innovative design and exceptional food and beverage offerings aligns perfectly with the Paragon brand,” said Mike Whalen, CEO of Paragon Theaters. “During last year’s closures, we took the time to consider our guests’ post-pandemic expectations and are introducing new amenities at Fenton based on those conversations. We look forward to sharing more details as we get closer to opening.”

The location was previously slated to become a cinébistro before the company’s parent company filed for bankruptcy.
“We’ve long envisioned a top-notch movie theater as our anchor tenant in Fenton,” said Kenton McKeehan, senior managing director of retail at real estate firm Hines. “Paragon is known for creating unique entertainment and branded experiences for its guests, and it was important to us to find an operator with a bold vision for the future of cinema-going. We can’t wait to see the latest flick while sitting in one of Paragon’s leather armchairs with a cold drink and good company.”
The theater will be officially opened on July 1st and open to the public.

On July 2nd, the theater is hosting a free Minion Mania event that will include food, entertainment and many of the endearing creatures that originated in Illumination’s Despicable Me.
