It’s been a long road for them Five Nights at Freddy’s video game adaptation. The games first launched in 2014, and just a year later, in 2015, it was considered making a movie. Since then, the creative people behind the scenes have been hard at work translating the hit horror games into a spooky life-action-adventure.
Franchise creator Scott Cawthon previously released a statement sharing vague details about the many scripts that were wiped out during pre-production. But to end his note, he drew attention to what he called the “Mike” script, which they eventually settled on.
However, that all went wrong. While the details of exactly what happened remain unconfirmed, there has been a major reset on the scenes. Christopher Columbus, the formerly attached director, was no longer part of the project and no updated information was given as to when the film was due to be released.
Everything was looking pretty bleak for those hoping for the video game adaptation to see the light of day.
Fortunately, the situation could now improve again.

Five Nights at Freddy’s It’s finally starting
Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum posted on Twitter how excited he was to work with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop on an upcoming project. He then proceeds to write down how “Your experience and expertise with animatronics is absolutely stunning.”
What he doesn’t mention is the real purpose of the work. But for those eagle-eyed viewers, the answer becomes pretty clear: They’re working on the Five nights at Freddy’s‘s film adaptation.
While the bow tie, microphone and larger teddy bear-like chest are the biggest telltale signs, a closer look reveals the head of the iconic, terrifying animatronic in the lower right of the image.
For comparison: This is what the killer mascot looks like in the game.
Freddy comes for the world
Many fans of the franchise are probably excited to finally see and hear a good update on the project. Some might have thought that the film would never see the light of day.
One aspect of the production that is still unclear is the involvement of franchise creator Scott Cawthon. While Blum had previously said they still need his approval for everything they do, Cawthon’s questionable and controversial political donations have become a major bone of contention among fans over the past year – in fact, it even led to him resigning the game- franchise passed to another development.
Hopefully all this turmoil has been figured out internally as work seems to be starting in earnest. Since animatornics is in the works, that probably means production isn’t too far behind.
The world is getting closer and closer to seeing Freddy Fazbear’s pizza mascot finally terrorizing audiences; Fans better start buckling up.
Five Nights at Freddy’s currently has no release date, but the franchise’s latest game release, Security Breach, is available where games are sold.
