Digimon adventure 02 gearing up for a massive return with a new feature film and gearing up to reveal the first footage from this new film later this summer! The Digimon franchise is now celebrating the series’ 20th anniversary, and as a result, fans saw the return of the eight original Chosen Children from the series’ very first season for a full TV reboot anime and the Last Evolution Kizuna movie (the end of her story). Then it was announced that the Digimon Adventure 02 DigiDestined will also get its fair share with a new movie in the near future.
Toei Animation announced this first Digimon adventure 02 would get its own new movie last summer during last year’s DigiFes, but unfortunately there have been very few major updates on how this new movie is progressing. But that’s about to change now that DigiFes 2022 has been announced, and one of the key teasers for the new event is the teaser that fans will be able to see the very first footage from this new film, along with a celebration for the second series in general.

DigiFes 2022 takes place in Japan on July 30th and celebrates both Digimon Adventure 02 (which will feature some of the new movies) and Digimon Frontier, which is celebrating its own 20th anniversary. This will be the first significant update for the new film since it was originally announced. Director Tomohisa Taguchi and writer Akatsuki Yamatoya return Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizunaand it has been confirmed that the new Digimon Adventure 02 movie will take place two years after the events of that movie.
There’s been teasing that there’ll be a new character, touted as the first-ever human to meet a partner Digimon, but specific details on his official title, storyline, and possible release date are still a mystery. Footage from the original announcement was posted online not long after last year’s event in Japan, so fingers crossed the same happens for this first footage.
