For 2023, NASCAR introduced a wet weather package for ovals. This package includes windshield wipers, mudguards and the option of grooved tires for when it rains at the track. The wipers and mud flaps must be installed for the duration of the weekend regardless of rain.
John Hunter Nemechek drove to race victory. He also collected an additional $100,000 with the Dash 4 Cash bonus.

He celebrated by parking his car against the inside wall. Pit crew #20 stood on top of the wall and cheered him on.
After a long burnout, the rear of the car caught fire. At first, Nemechek continued the celebration, ignoring the fire.
The race winner was then called upon to secure himself and the safety team was on its way.
Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski comment on the fire
“Now he just set the whole thing on fire. I would assume so. Big fire,” commented Joey Logano from the Fox Sports booth.
Brad Keselowski added, “I think those might be the mudflaps.”
Keselowski added, “It looks really cool. Maybe not the safest, but that’s ok.”
Logano replied: “I mean, the racetrack is on fire.”
“Looks like there’s a DeLoren over there. Yes, he must go, excessive celebration.”
Logano concluded: “The markings on the racetrack are on fire. That is really cool.”

When Nemechek came to a stop, both the AMR safety team and the Joe Gibbs Racing Team were on site with fire extinguishers to douse the flames.
“I forgot about that, I was just focused on winning the race,” Nemechek said of the $100,000 bonus.
“I don’t know exactly what started it,” Nemechek, from the media center, said in reference to the fire.
“The similar situation was that we both had burnouts,” Nemechek referred to Zane Smith, who recently suffered from a similar problem.
The Martinsville fire looked very similar to the Circuit of the Americas fire. Zane Smith also caught fire during his burnout celebrations. This fire also took place when the wet weather pack with mudflaps was installed.

“I saw that there was fire in the mirrors. I didn’t know if it was the floor burning from the rubber or the actual mudflaps or what.”
“I was told to do backup because fire extinguishers were on the way. I wasn’t too nervous.”
Nemechek added, “But definitely a proud moment to go out there and burn it down like we did.”
