Aside from the raw and aggressive racing style, NASCAR is a sport often characterized by strong family ties. These bonds often develop over time between players, team owners, crew chiefs and crew, spotters, broadcasters, and fans. However, sometimes such bonds already exist, for example in father-son duos or sibling pairs.
While NASCAR ovals have seen some legendary father-son duos like Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr, Bill and Chase Elliott, etc., the sport has also seen siblings compete against each other. One such couple that comes to mind is Kurt and Kyle Busch, and fans just can’t seem to get enough of them.
The Busch brothers made headlines this season when they became the most successful siblings in Cup Series history.

Brett Griffin reveals what sets the Busch brothers apart from other siblings
Kaulig Racing spotter Brett Griffin shared his thoughts on the Busch brothers’ legacy on the latest episode of the podcast, Door Bumper Clear. As co-hosts TJ Majors and Freddie Kraft discussed Kurt Busch’s emotional comment on the final lap of the race at the Circuit of The Americas, Griffin cut in on the conversation and mentioned the brothers’ accomplishments.
“There are so many brothers who have been riders and have survived the sport. And I think, and I’m sure, stats will back that up, but I haven’t looked at the stats, like the Busch brothers are by far the best brother duo. said Griffin.
The show’s co-host Casey Boat chimed in, saying: “They now hold the record for most wins by brothers.”
An enthusiastic Griffin went on to clarify his point by saying: “To the right, but in the Cup Series you see guys like Geoff Bodine who was a really good racer; had some success at Hendrick [Motorsports]. And then you see Brett Bodine, who was also a good racing driver. I remember him driving the #26 Quaker State Car. But Brett just never won many races.
“If you even look at the whale trips, I mean Darrel won 84 races and I think Michael won four, you know. And Michael certainly had a lot of chances to win but didn’t make it.
“You look at the brothers and it’s like it’s rare that you see two great brothers and they’re both great.”
The brothers became the most successful siblings in the Cup Series when Kyle won his first race of the season at Auto Club Speedway.
