Kyle Busch in a Joe Gibbs Race dress was a phenomenon. With 56 wins, 15 seasons and two Cup Series championships, the stats tell it all. On the contrary, Rowdy left the JGR team with fond memories and many winning trophies and scholarships. But now, speaking of the 2023 season, things may turn out a bit differently.
When JGR and Busch parted ways due to sponsorship issues, Richard Childress Racing knocked to take advantage of his services. However, there is one thing that Busch always looks back on, the one thing that has remained constant over time. And that’s Busch’s dominating performance at Pocono Raceway. He talks about the same as he reminisces about memorable times at JGR and goes on to address how he dealt with adversity on the track.

Arriving at the RCR, Busch immediately took effect. With two wins this season, he started to focus on their team. Mr. Childress and his team have arguably lost a lot of firepower as the engine of the sport. But Busch could play a big role in reviving that.
In the presser before the New Hampshire race, he was asked: “IohohkInotg AheAd youoh noteXyou weekthereohyou‘ve wohnot youhree ohF youhe IAsyou eIghyou rAvses Ayou Pohvsohnotoh RAvsewAthere. Busch has shown his many years of experience on the track, with an excellent track record to back up his accomplishments. Describing his memorable moments and a great experience on the track with the Joe Gibbs team, he explains the distinguishing factor of JGR, “Yeah, well, none of us are perfect in every way. The Pocono (Raceway) thing really started around 2014.”
Speaking about his dynamic with team president Dave Alpern, he adds, “Dave and I finally found something that worked for us. And then in 2015 with Adam it really fell into place and we were really quick since 2015. It was obviously with the guys at JGR so it will be interesting to see if that translates to me with the RCR band – to be able to go to Pocono (Raceway) next week with our Chevy and be quick.
One of the main points that Busch conveys in his statements is his affinity and synchronization with the Joe Gibbs Racing crew. Life in a Camaro hasn’t been bad for him either. Busch in the No. 8 team’s Next-gen car has been quite impressive this season. Busch may very well turn the season around with a championship win and bring good times to his team, which has been out of form in recent years.

Explaining the same additions to the driving style, he said, “But the biggest thing for me is – I don’t know, I kind of changed my driving style on the race track just a bit around the same time and I kind of stuck to my guns on that.“
If there’s one thing you associate Busch with, it’s his prowess as a sensible driver. It may have earned him many rivals, but it has helped him stay at the top of the sport for years now.
Speaking about Pocono’s current situation and how it might go for cars, he added: “The track is just starting to get old because it was repaved in 2010 or 2011 or something, so you know it’s really coming into its own now. It’s still quite bumpy. He still lost a lot of grip. So it lends itself to being able to widen out a bit, which is always nice on those big, flat, high-speed tracks. You want to be able to find your own air and get out of the wake.

The trail has been flagged many times for bumps. The bumps on the tunnel bend at Pocono are a well-known obstacle for pilots. The re-paving the track has undergone has provided its specialties by allowing record speeds.
