Kate Garraway has revealed that she is “exhausted and very upset” as husband Derek is “in and out of the hospital”.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, has been sharing updates on Derek’s health for the past two years after being hospitalized with Covid-19 in March 2020.
In April 2021, Derek was finally discharged from the hospital after 13 months and is now receiving 24-hour care at her family home.
They share their home with their two children, 17-year-old Darcey and 12-year-old William, known as Billy.
In her recent Instagram post, Kate revealed that she is “weary” from Derek’s constant traveling in and out of the hospital.
She wrote: “So Derek has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately.
“Hopefully the wonderful health teams are helping him to improve but I woke up early feeling exhausted and very restless.”

Despite that admission, she shared with her followers how she was coping.
“As you know my garden is my #happyplace so I came out to have some #rest and to do some weeding and planting,” she wrote.
“It’s been ages since I’ve been able and I’ve really missed it, but nature hasn’t got me.
“The flowers bloom, the fruits grow, the leaves dance in the wind. I’m sure there’s a message somewhere about how life finds a way, and I certainly feel better about it when I’m there.
“Now I’m getting my hands dirty and I’m stuck! #happysundayeveryone and hope you find some joy!”

In April, Kate was overcome with emotion after meeting a nurse taking care of her husband while presenting GMB.
Beth Dixon was a guest on the show and had been taking care of Michael Rosen, who was on the same ward as Derek.
Knowing this, Kate asked her: “I have to ask you personally because you were looking after Michael and as we have now found out, Drek was two beds away. Did you take care of him?”
“I would have done that, yes,” replied Beth, who previously worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital before the pandemic.

“God, that’s amazing,” Kate replied, clearly emotional.
“Thank you, by the way.”
Referring to her time caring for Derek, Beth added, “We tried, we did everything we could. We gave everything.”
It was an emotional interview that ended with the couple hugging.
