Indiana Jones is one of the most famous action/adventure characters of all time. Harrison Ford embodies the character with insane high-level stunts and humor to keep audiences entertained. The Legend of Zoro‘s Antonio Banderas might be a memorable actor himself for playing a masked, sword-wielding hero, but that doesn’t mean seeing Indiana Jones right in front of him doesn’t make him feel like a fan again. After Antonio Banderas was brought in Indiana Jones 5he talked about what it was like to see Harrison Ford on the set.
Antonio Banderas is there the Indiana Jones 5 to water. While we have no idea if he will be friend or foe of our favorite archaeologist, it will still be a real treat to see him there. Premiere of his new film at the Tribeca Film Festival official competition, entertainment tonight spoke to Banderas about what it was like meeting Harrison Ford while he was wearing his full Indiana Jones attire on set. Banderas replied:
The first day I came in early for makeup, someone knocks on the door, I look back and he says, “Hey,” and he was Indiana Jones with his wig, hat, the whole thing. It was like, ‘Whoa, that’s weird.’ I saw Indiana Jones when I moved to Madrid in the early 80’s. I even remember the name of the theater and I thought, ‘Oh my god, this is the future of cinema, of adventure films’, and it was for many years. Since 40 years. Now everything changes. The paradigm of cinema is changing.
While it was once unclear whether or not we would get a fifth Indiana Jones Film after the fourth part, now it definitely happens. It’s been 14 years since Indiana Jones returned to the big screen indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull, and while this sequel didn’t live up to many fans’ expectations, it should still come as no surprise that we were getting a fifth film. It seems to be a growing trend to revisit 80’s classics Top Gun: Maverick. With loner Breaking box office records for Paramount and Tom Cruisewe can only hope to see the same results for Indiana Jones 5 and Harrison Ford.
Indiana Jones 5 has been in development since 2016, but met many great obstacles. The film was supposed to be released sometime this July, however Disney pushed its release date forward by 11 months. Steven Spielberg also resigned from his role as director and was replaced by Ford vs Ferrari Director James Mangold. This is us‘s Dan Fogelman will be the film’s new screenwriter, having replaced Jonathan Kasdan, who replaced David Koepp. Indiana Jones 5 Filming began in June 2021 and completed in February. While we don’t know a specific plot just yet, it’s a good bet this will be the last we see Harrison Ford crack that whip.
Along with Indiana Jones 5, Antonio Banderas will star alongside Penelope Cruz Official competition. This Spanish-Argentinian comedy follows a billionaire entrepreneur who spontaneously hires a renowned filmmaker to make an art film. Banderas said in his ET interview that he saw a side of Penelope Cruz that American audiences had never seen before to show her comedic side. This film will have a limited release on June 17th.
It’s going to be a very interesting dynamic to see Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas working together Indiana Jones 5. As two action-packed stars return to their roots for this generation of viewers, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this fifth film doesn’t disappoint. You can watch Ford and Banderas when the upcoming action-adventure film will be released on June 30, 2023.
