Celebrity stylist Nausheen Shah knows what it takes to make Hollywood’s leading men look sharp. Shah is the creative brilliance behind the timeless looks of household names like game of Thrones and eternal Stern Kit Harrington. Thanks to her formal design training and experienced editorial eye, Shah’s clients set the bar for effortless sparkle on the red carpet and beyond. Here, Shah shares her beach wedding style secrets as the season peak approaches, along with product recommendations from men health Team.
Keep it light
For summer evenings, Shah suggests opting for fabrics and colors that won’t weigh you down. She suggests sticking to suits made of breathable materials like linen and in lighter tones like beige, brown and blue.
If you want to expand your look, you can try layering textures and colors from complementary palettes. “I love mixing mood board colors like different shades of brown or blue but keeping it light and simple. Maybe your trousers are linen, but your shirt is knitted. Maybe the shirt has a stripe. Maybe it’s a button down. Perhaps the pants are a light plaid or a brown plaid. I love playing with different textures, different colors and different fabrics from the same family.”
When it comes to accessories, Shah recommends engaging with the environment where the event is taking place. “If it’s a beach, I don’t know if you wear shoes,” she laughs. Shah refers to the natural development of the leaves of palm trees. Over time, the leaves turn brown and become woven into materials such as textured raffia. “If you can, find a cool raffia slipper, slide, or something else to play with the elements.” Classics like espadrilles and loafers are a good place to start.

Tailor made
“If there’s one thing I know better than anything else, it’s that your clothes had better be tailored,” says Shah, who earned a degree in fashion design from FIT, specializing in tailoring, before dressing Hollywood’s brightest stars. “If your clothes aren’t tailored to you, you’ll never look good. When it comes to suits, they are rarely made for everyone and you have to find a tailor.”
Shah mentions that while you can find the unicorn brand that suits you, don’t be disappointed if your reality turns out to be far from it. She points out there’s a reason everyone from department stores to brands like Suitsupply have popularized accessible suits that include tailoring as a service. “You know that clothes can’t fit everyone. We are all of so many different shapes and sizes – especially with our different ethnicities – we are all created differently. Is it worth spending the extra money to have a suit tailored? 150%.”
While it’s easy to spot a well-fitting suit on the red carpet, spotting it in a store or even at home can be a different story. “Don’t be afraid it’s slightly fitted. Make sure your jacket curves with your body. You want to put it on and it fits like a glove.”
“Fit is everything,” says Shah. “Find a tailor and make him (or her) your best friend.

Trust is the key
Shah recommends considering two key factors when dressing for special occasions: the context of the event and your personal style. “It depends on the person and their attitude. Do you wear sneakers or loafers? It all depends on where you are going, what time of day and what your personality is.” If in doubt, you can always check with the host or venue if there are specific dress code parameters.
Ultimately, the stylistic choice is yours, as long as it’s appropriate for the occasion and brings out your most authentic self. As simple as it sounds, feeling good is key to looking good.
“First, you should always make sure you’re comfortable so you’re confident. Ultimately, style is all about your swag and how comfortable you feel. If you don’t have confidence, then there is no style.”
