OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — When the College World Series is like the first two rounds of the NCAA baseball tournament, fans at the outdoor courts at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska will be taking home plenty of souvenir balls. The 424 homers hit in Regionals and Super Regionals is a tournament record and at least 14 games remain to be played in the CWS. The eight-team event begins Friday with No. 5 Texas A&M against Oklahoma and No. 9 Texas against Notre Dame. Saturday’s opener game #2 Stanford vs. Arkansas and Mississippi vs. #14 Auburn.

Stanford needed to win five elimination games in the tournament to reach Omaha for the second straight season. Brock Jones said experience could serve the cardinal well.
