MADISON, Wis. – Scores of police officers responded to a movie theater on Madison’s West Side on Wednesday night.
A News 3 Now crew at the scene reported seeing at least a dozen police vehicles at the Marcus Point Cinema on Big Sky Drive.
The Madison Police Department did not immediately have details of the incident, but reported overnight that they had responded to a rollover accident near the beltline on Mineral Point Road with a stolen car and that five people who were in the car were in came across a shop nearby.
Just before 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon, police confirmed their Wednesday night response included a “West Side Cinema.” All five people involved were taken into custody. The police also gave no further information about the stolen car.
Security camera footage from a nearby building shows five people running from the direction where the accident occurred and toward the Marcus Point Cinema, where several squad cars quickly converged.

Kelsey Sutton, who went to the cinema with her sister to see Jurassic World: Dominion, said when they arrived around 7:30 or 7:40 p.m., they saw a heavy police presence outside the building.
Sutton then called the theater to see if they were open, after which she said a staff member told her they were going into lockdown.
“At one point… there were two officers who went in with guns and then one with a riot shield and then we just watched,” she said. “People trickled out slowly, one group came out at a time, but for the most part it was groups of twos and fours.”
