LOS ANGELES — — Freddie Freeman had three hits, Trea Turner homered and four Los Angeles pitchers limited Cleveland to two hits in the Dodgers’ 7-1 win over the Guardians on Saturday.
Julio Urías (4-6) scored his first win since May 20 from six strong innings. The left-hander, who had gone 0-3 with a 3.09 ERA in his last four games, allowed an undeserved run on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
It was a season low in hitting for Cleveland, who was missing AL RBI leader José Ramírez with a right thumb ailment. The loss sparked a season-best five-game winning streak.
While the Guardians struggled to generate offense, all Dodgers starters made it to base, with five of their 11 hits going for extra bases.
After Austin Barnes’ victim fly Cody Bellinger equalized on 1 in the second, Turner gave the Dodgers a 3-1 lead when he made a low switch from Cal Quantrill (4-4) to his ninth on the left-center seats drove homer of the season.
Quantrill set season highs with five runs and 10 hits. The right-hander knocked out a four and issued a walk.
The Guardians took a 1-0 lead in the first game when second-ranked Amed Rosario scored after a hard-hit grounder by Oscar Mercado went through the legs of second baseman Max Muncy. That sent runners into the corners before Andrés Giménez struck to end the inning.
That would be the last time Cleveland would threaten. The Guardians had just two baserunners in the remaining eight innings.
Urias, David Price, Phil Bickford and Reyes Moronta gave up their last 12 batters after Rosario’s double to lead in sixth.
Los Angeles added two runs in Justin Turner’s third RBI double and Gavin Lux’s RBI triple.
The Dodgers made it 6-1 in the sixth game when Barnes scored on Justin Turner on a bases-loaded walk by Anthony Castro. They added a run in the seventh when Lux scored on a throwing error by Nick Sandlin’s Cleveland Reliever.
