When it’s summer in Hoboken, it’s time to get out of the house.
The City of Hoboken invites the community to its free Summer Fun initiative, which includes Concerts in the Park, Fitness in the Park programs and the well-loved Movies Under the Stars program.
Fitness in the Park is a series of free trial classes hosted by local gyms in city parks that began Monday 6th June at Pier A Park. Fitness in the Park will continue to be held at Pier A Park, 7th & Jackson Resiliency Park, Southwest Park, Southwest Pop-Up Park and under the Viaduct.
Next June Fitness in the Park classes at Pier A Park, 1st Street and Sinatra Drive, 7:00-8:00 p.m. include Urban Souls on Monday, June 20th. The course realigns the spine, opens cramped hips and mobilizes stiff joints. You can check for updates at www.urbansoulsyoga.com or on Instagram at @urbansoulshoboken. Hudson Seed Yoga will follow on June 27th. Beginners are welcome to join the course and there will be a short meditation at the end. For updates you can email [email protected] or call 862-371-4966.
The Concerts in the Park series takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. Concerts are held in Southwest Park on Mondays, Shipyard Park on Tuesdays, and Sinatra Park on Thursdays. The programs officially began Thursday, June 9th at Sinatra Park.
Upcoming June concerts at Southwest Resiliency Park, 38 Harrison St., from 6:30pm to 7:30pm include ROCKNESS MUSIC on Monday, June 20; and the Swingadelic Quartet on Monday, June 27 from 6-8 p.m., followed Tuesday at Shipyard Park, 13th Street and McFeeley Drive from 7-8 p.m. with YOSI: Sing-A-Long on June 21 and Mr .Magico on June 28th. Wednesdays at Sinatra Park, 525 Sinatra Drive from 7pm to 9pm will host Hoboken’s My Way Sinatra Sing-Off on June 23rd and The Fleetwood Mac Engagement on June 30th.
Movies Under the Stars shows popular movies for free at Pier A Park on First Street and Sinatra Drive, as well as 7th and Jackson Park. All films start at 9pm in June and July and 8:30pm in August.
June movies at Pier A Park on Wednesday include Aladdin on June 22nd and Spiderman: No Way Home on June 29th. While no movies are scheduled for June 7 and Jackson Park, future movie screenings include Soul on July 20 and Frozen 2 on August 3.
