The event, held in association with Boehringer Ingelheim, begins at 1 p.m. with a celebrity softball game on the ball field adjacent to the Ridgefield Playhouse featuring Bernie and his bandmates, along with special guests including legendary New York Yankees seamstress Mariano Rivera and many more! After the game at 5 p.m. there will be an open-air concert with Bernie and his musical guests, also on the outdoor area. In the past, Bernie’s musical guests have included Paul Simon and Paul Shaffer, and famous softball athletes have included everyone from Darryl Strawberry and David Cone to Mickey Rivers and Tommy Lasorda – just to name a few.
Don’t miss the opportunity to spend the day with your family on the field with some legends of music and baseball!
Bernie is passionate about raising awareness of pulmonary fibrosis. In 2001, Bernie’s father BernabĂ© passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and since 2017 he has been committed to promoting this rare disease through Boehringer Ingelheim’s Breathless
Campaign. The mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is to accelerate the development of new treatments and ultimately a cure for pulmonary fibrosis.
During his 16-year career as a midfielder for the New York Yankees, Bernie Williams was a four-time World Series Champion and five-time All Star. During Williams’ years with the Yankees, his passion for music never waned, and the sound of a guitar could often be heard from the clubhouse or during team flights. It came as no surprise when he showed just how serious he was about music in 2003 with the release of his debut album, The Journey Within. Featuring fusions of jazz, rock and the tropical rhythms of Williams’ heritage, the record was both critically acclaimed and an instant chart success, peaking at number 3 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart.
