Let’s start today’s bulletin with news about Hollywood star Idris Elba, who will be starring in the upcoming movie Bang from production house Dark Horse Entertainment. The film, directed by Bullet Train filmmaker David Leitch, is based on the comic series by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres.
The film is part of Dark Horse Entertainment’s expanded partnership with streaming platform Netflix. According to a press release from the streamer, the stylish spy thriller will be written by Kindt and Zak Olkewicz. Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg are producing the project for Dark Horse Entertainment along with Leitch and Kelly McCormick of 87 North and Elba.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise’s role as Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible movies has been rumored to follow the seventh and eighth installments of the franchise, titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 will end. Dead Reckoning Part 2′. In the latest episode of the Light the Fuse podcast, director Christopher McQuarrie was asked about it, but he refused to confirm or deny the rumours. While Christopher McQuarrie is noncommittal about Tom Cruise staying with the franchise, the director did mention that he and the ‘Top Gun’ star will be collaborating on another project soon.
“Passengers on a flight to Hawaii got the surprise of their lives when American actor Jason Momoa showed up as a flight attendant. A video of the actor handing over the water bottle has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Jason can be seen in a gray suit with a pink flower behind his ear, just like the other flight attendants. According to the New York Post, the water bottles were from sustainable brand Manannalu, which Jason himself created. Jason also reportedly gave each passenger 10,000 Hawaiian Airlines Miles. However, there is no confirmation of this from the actor or from the airline company.”
“It was recently announced that Warner Bros. Discovery will not be releasing “Batgirl” in theaters or on HBO Max. A day after this surprising news, the filmmakers behind the project have issued a statement.
The film’s directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, said in a statement on Instagram, “We are saddened and shocked by the news. We still can’t believe it. As directors, our work needs to be shown to audiences, and while the film was far from finished, we wish fans around the world had had the opportunity to see and embrace the finished film for themselves. Maybe one day they will.”

According to entertainment website Deadline, Warner Bros’ new team is reducing the number of feature films premiering on the streamer and deciding which films will be released in theaters and which will be shelved. Batgirl, starring Leslie Grace in the title role and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne, was set to bid farewell sometime in 2023. Alongside the superhero film, the studio has also decided to shelve the Scooby-Doo title Scoob!: Holiday Haunt.

A sequel to the Oscar-winning psychological thriller Joker, based on one of the world’s most well-known comic book villains, is slated to hit theaters on October 4, 2024, a spokesman for film distributor Warner Bros said recently.
In Joker: Folie a Deux, Joaquin Phoenix will reprise his role as the title character, which earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor in the original 2019 film. No further details about the sequel were immediately made available by Warner Bros. However, Variety has reported that the new production will be a musical in which Lady Gaga is expected to play Joker’s co-conspirator Harley Quinn.

“Meanwhile, actress and singer Selena Gomez is in talks with 20th Century Studios to develop a reboot of the 1988 comedy ‘Working Girl.’ The original film, directed by Mike Nichols, starred actors Sigourney Weaver, Melanie Griffith and Harrison Ford. Lana Pena, creator of the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President, is adapting the screenplay for the film.
According to entertainment site Variety, the creators plan to release the film on the Hulu streaming platform. There is currently no director assigned to the project.
It’s still unclear if Gomez will star in the Working Girl remake alongside his role as producer. The Working Girl reboot will be Gomez’s second collaboration with Hulu.

The actor’s rep commented, “We can confirm that last night Dev Patel and his friends witnessed a violent altercation that was already underway outside a supermarket. Dev acted on instinct to try to de-escalate the situation and end the fight. Luckily the group was successful and stayed at the scene to ensure the police and ambulance arrived.”
