Over a decade after first attempting to adapt Rick Riordans Story inspired by Greek mythology, Percy Jackson and the Olympiansfor the big screen, Disney+ will try to pass the trident to its hero with a new adaptation The Lightning Thief. To years of development in which the author himself was involvedthe streaming series has officially gone into production. Walker Scobell
Leading cast of Percy Jackson The series stars Walker Scobell in the title role of Percy, who finds out he’s Poseidon’s son after leading a fairly ordinary life despite being repeatedly deported for his ADHD and dyslexia. Scobell recently made his film debut and breakthrough role with the Netflix hit The Adam Project. Scobell played a young version of Ryan Reynolds’ Adam in the 2021 film, which also starred Zoe Saldaña, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner and Catherine Keener. During his audition for The Adam ProjectScobell blinded Reynolds with him his ability to quote the Dead Pool Movie Word for word, swear words and everything. Scobell was announced as Percy Jackson in April 2022 too much excitement among the fans. The actor is the perfect age to begin the demigod’s journey, hopefully with Disney+ adapting all five books.
Leah Jeffries
Percy Jackson is just one-third of an adventurous trio that the series is known to follow. Also joining the trio is Annabeth Chase, who is a demigod like Percy, but instead of being the descendant of Poseidon, she is the daughter of Athena. Leah Jeffries will play Annabeth after an already impressive acting resume. Jeffries has previously appeared in several episodes of the Fox series Rich and rel. The actress also wrapped up production on upcoming horror movie animalwhere she will play the daughter of Idris Elba’s main character as they hunt each other down from an apex predator in the African savannah.
Aryan Simhadri
To round off Percy JacksonThe trio of the series needs a Grover Underwood, of course. Aryan Simhadri will play Percy’s satyr and best friend/guardian in the series. Aryan Simhadri already has an extensive acting career, particularly after being a Disney Channel star in originals like Just keep at it and Turn. The teen actor was also recently in the Cheaper in dozens Remake along with Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union and worked on the voice The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, Mira, royal detective and Adventures in Wonder Park.
Virginia Kull
Percy Jackson’s mother, Sally Jackson, is played by Virginia Kull diversity. Sally is a human woman who fell in love with Poseidon and had Percy with him, but with his birth the god broke an oath and he was forced to return to sea. Sally spends her life protecting Percy from his lineage, but he learns the truth within the series. Virginia Kull is primarily a television actress who has played significant roles in Big little lies, The Towering Tower, Sneaky Pete and NOS4A2. She follows Catherine Keener who previously played Sally in the films.
Tim Sharp
Timm Sharp will play Percy Jackson’s abusive and despicable stepfather Gabriel “Gabe” Ugliano in the Disney+ series. in the The Lightning Thief, Sally is married to Gabe, who is described as having a pungent smell and earning the secret nickname “Smelly Gabe”, and he has a contentious relationship with Sally and Percy. Sharp has held numerous roles over the years since he started in the early ’00s. He is best known for his comedic roles such as in Fox series Until deaththe short-lived Showtime series Blunt talk alongside Patrick Stewart and HBO Enlightened with Laura Dern.
Jason Mantzoukas
In it he plays Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and ecstasy Percy Jackson is Jason Mantzoukas. In the books by Rick Riordan, Dionysus is one of Zeus’ sons, known as Mr. D, and serves as camp leader at Camp Half-Blood. The character in the books is comical, which makes Mantzoukas a great cast for the role, along with the actor-comedian, who is himself of Greek descent. Jason Mantzoukas is a frequent character actor in the comedy genre with memorable roles in The league, The good place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. GlynTurman
Also joining the cast is Glynn Turman, who will play another director on Camp Half-Blood. Turman will play Chiron, an immortal centaur, the son of Kronos and Oceanid Philyra, and known to be a trainer to heroes like Jason and Achilles. Come in early The Lightning Thief, Chiron poses as Mr. Brunner, a teacher at Percy’s human school at Yancy Academy. Glynn Turman is a veteran actor known for his roles in Peyton Square the NBC sitcom in the ’60s Another world late 80’s to 90’s, The cable and house of lies. The actor most recently starred in the Netflix film Ma Rainey’s black butt.
Megan Mullally
The cast is rounded off for the time being Will & Grace Actress Megan Mullally, who will play Mrs. Dodds in the Disney+ series. in the The Lightning Thief Book, Mrs. Dodds is Percy’s pre-algebra teacher who became Fury early in his adventure. Mullally is known for playing Karen Walker on sitcoms Will & Gracebut she is also the voice of Gayle (among other characters) in Bob’s burger and Tammy Swanson II in Parks and Recreation.
