The Ancient One once said that we cannot choose our time; and when it comes to MCU storytelling, that couldn’t be truer. Since Marvel Studios films, and now Disney+ shows, aren’t always released in chronological order, fans are often left to speculate as to when certain events in the timeline take place. The fact that Sony owns the film rights to Spider-Man has only complicated the guesswork on the MCU timeline.
In recent years, Disney+ has been the authoritative source for the chronological Marvel timeline; and while this has helped clear up some of the confusion, not all of the MCU is on Disney+ due to contract issues and streaming deals.
In addition to 2008 The incredible HulkTom Hollands Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far away from homeand now No way home have all been missing from the House of Mouse streaming service.
But now, thanks to a new deal, that’s no longer the case, meaning the MCU timeline has changed again.

Now that Spider-Man: Homecoming was added to Disney+ UK, the streamer’s Marvel Cinematic Universe in Timeline Order now features the Tom Holland solo film set after 2018 Black Panther and before the original Doctor Strange in 2016.
So chronologically speaking homecoming is currently the seventeenth project within the MCU.

The only films or shows excluded from this list include The incredible Hulk, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider: No way homeand Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, it has been confirmed that the latter film will be added to Disney+ on June 22nd.
Spiderman, Spiderman 2, The Incredible Spidermanand The Amazing Spider-Man 2have also been added to Disney+ UK and are expected to release on Disney+ in the US by the end of 2022.
More MCU timeline answers on the way?
While Spider-Man: Far From Home was the final film in phase 3 of the MCU, it’s been a mystery for a long time as to when and where homecoming occurred. While not shocking, this new update confirms that T’Challa’s solo film is set before Peter Parker’s performances following their two debuts Captain America: Civil War.
But still a mystery remains.
Since Phase 4 of the MCU has jumped around in (and even outside of) the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, there could be some surprises when Far away from home is added to the streamer. And even though the fans know it No way home takes place before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhat happened before the Multiversal Spidey flick is still up for debate.
But answers are on the way here, too. Thanks to the new Sony deal Spiderman Movies are also coming to Disney+ in the US; and hopefully all Marvel fans will have a full picture of the MCU’s own Sacred Timeline in the near future.
Until then, other Marvel Studios projects may provide some of the answers, especially if upcoming episodes of Mrs Miracle continue to provide context and perspective for the superhero events of the universe.
