Over time we have seen many changes in NASCAR. The Governing Body has adopted several approaches to its perspective. While it has its pros and cons, there always remains a large amount of unpredictability combined with inconsistency. Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn’t want that. But recently, when he saw some of NASCAR’s decisions, he was stunned.
Junior has always been vocal about NASCAR being soft on their way of investigating certain events. This season, however, the way they have approached their business has surprised not only him but many fans as well. Dale Jr. recently described what has baffled him.

In a recent episode of his podcast, The Dale Jr. Download, the 48-year-old opened up about several things. He shared his insights into how NASCAR punished teams and drivers after Phoenix Raceway. Co-host Mike Davis described the hypocrisy of some, especially after what happened with Denny Hamlin. According to him, on the one hand people are demanding a successful race and on the other hand they criticize when the drivers speak their mind.
Dale Jr. said: “Well there you go, that’s our take on the HMS penalties, the Kaulig penalties, the Denny Hamlin penalty, maybe I feel like it was a big hit across the board, maybe because of so much in a day, I know I don’t really know.”
He then explains how he had previously hoped NASCAR would be strict with their approach. He also admits that the current decisions have come out of the blue even for him. junior said “I know I’ve said in the past that I want NASCAR to be mean and tough and knock everything down with a hammer. But boy I think that was a bigger hammer than I ever thought they would use.”
Certainly this was unexpected for many. Recently, even Kyle Busch was confirmed as the latest victim of NASCAR’s harsh approach.
