The two-day event benefits the charities of the South Bend community
South Bend, Ind., June 10, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Notable University of Notre Dame Alumnus, former NFL player and veteran sportscaster Mike Golicalong with his family, will host his first celebrity charity golf tournament, the Golic Sub-Par Classic, in partnership with Credit Union 1 to raise money for local charities across the United States South Bend community. The two-day event will take place in University of Notre Dame on Sunday June 26thand Monday, June 27thand offer a distinctive, premium hospitality experience with celebrity interaction.
The celebrations begin with “A Night on the Green” presented by Credit Union 1, where guests will enjoy food, live music and the opportunity to bid on a one-of-a-kind offer Notre-Dame Experiences. The following day, team sponsors are paired with celebrity guests invited by the Golic family for a full golf outing at Warren Golf Course Notre-Dame. Golfers will be challenged with on-course competitions, sample local cuisine, and engage remarkably Notre-Dame Former at the tournament.
Golic, inspired by his previous involvement as a participant in other celebrity charity events, decided to gather his family and organize an event of his own that would build on these positive experiences.
“As you can tell from the name we chose for this event [Sub-Par Classic], our family will never shy away from making fun of ourselves. However, the event is anything but below average,” said Golic. “Since the day we announced we were greenlighting this, we’ve had incredible support. To have that kind of support in the first year is special and we are so excited to be raising money for a great cause.”
The Golic Sub-Par Classic was established to host friends, family and colleagues from around the world Notre-Dame network and give back to nonprofit organizations in the South Bend Area. The four event beneficiaries of the inaugural event are The Logan Center, Center for the Homeless, Food Bank of Northern Indiana and the South Bend Animal Resource Center.
The roots of the Golic family lie deep in the South Bend Area that made the selection of Notre-Dame campus an easy choice for the venue.
Mike Golic and his wife Christine first met while attending Notre-Dame and Saint Mary’s College, respectively. Their two sons, Mike Jr. and Jake, followed in their father’s footsteps and played football for the Irish, while their daughter Sydney was a member of the university’s swim team.
“When we first started discussing the possibility of hosting a charity event, we knew two things were certain: we would host it South Bendand we would have fun” Christine Golic said. “After countless memories and milestones in our family history unfolding here on campus, South Bend will always be our family home, and we value giving back to the community that has shaped each of us. We are excited to announce the start of the Golic Sub-Par Classic, an event that will create many more memories while raising money for causes we care about.”
The Golic family is accompanied by their friends in the Notre-Dame Football and track and field community, former teammates in the NFL, Olympic athletes, musicians and current DraftKings colleagues of Golic Sr. and Jr. for several decades Notre-Dame Football will be represented by former players present, including Bob Crable, KyleRudolf, Tom Thaler, Ryan Harris, Brady Quinn, Julian loveand many more.
