rock legend Courtney Love takes care of business!
The former Hole frontwoman just crossed an important item off her to-do list. Love, the 58-year-old widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, has been hard at work for a decade on her memoir, which is the second directly connected account of her life story; She previously published a book of diary entry collections called Dirty Blonde in the mid-’80s.

She is ‘Miss. World’: In the long-awaited memoir of love
Love isn’t the only member of the Nirvana camp who has spent some time pondering his life story for a memoir. Last fall, former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl released his incredibly successful memoir, The Storyteller.
Grohl, 53, was open in his memoir about his relationship with Cobain, who died in 1994 at the age of 27, effectively spelling the end of the band.
Grohl, who has been at odds with Love for decades, has had a hard time putting pen to paper to tell stories about his relationship with Cobain.
“It’s one thing to write about getting stitches at 12, or it’s one thing to talk about taking your kids to the daddy-daughter dance, it’s another thing to write about something, that you hardly spoke to people close to you,” he explained in an interview with Amanpour and Company via Loudersound.com last year.
In Love’s initial social media announcement regarding the completion of her book, she didn’t mention Cobain, but detailed that she had written about her “mother/family wealth” to help get the rags to riches narrative on track get the love followed in the media for nearly three decades. Love’s recent Instagram post was full of details about what fans could expect in the memoir.
If you’re expecting a sensational take on Love’s life that focuses on the more tabloid-friendly aspects of her life and her marriage to Cobain (whom she married in 1992 and welcomed Frances Bean Cobain), look elsewhere!
Love telling an authentic story is the best way.
“F-k an untrue narrative because people like it,” she wrote in her caption. “The truth is so much more fun, richer, makes more sense…”
Smells like… paper shortage?
When it comes to a time frame when curious minds will have a chance to reveal the truth of Love, their fans might have to wait a little longer!
A common problem in the world of celebrity memoirs written so far this year also concerns the release of Love’s memoir, which takes its title from Hole’s 1994 song “Doll Parts.”
Earlier this month we gave an update on Britney Spears’ highly anticipated memoir. According to Publisher’s Weekly, the reason for the delay is a “crunch of paper”.
Love gave the same reason for a blurry release date timeline on her Instagram post.
“There is a (no kidding) very real paper supply chain,” she wrote, “so don’t ask me when…”
However, she inserted a positive reminder. “(What’s important is that it’s good now)” she added at the end of her statement.
What else has love been up to lately?
Earlier this spring, Love shared a personal story on social media relating to her longtime boyfriend Johnny Depp while he was in the midst of the infamous defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
“I don’t really want to make public judgments,” Love shared. “I just want to tell you that Johnny resuscitated me in 1995 when I overdosed outside of the Viper Room.” (via The Explosion)
The Viper Room had been founded by Depp in Los Angeles two years earlier. The nightclub had been the place where the late actor River Phoenix had died of an overdose that same year. (via Daily Mail)
