CookieLoL apology livestream is not doing well after maintenance and cheating allegations

Posted on April 15, 2023

League of Legends streamer Jakob “Cookie” Fransson, aka CookieLoL, has responded with an apology video after he was accused of cheating on viewers and flirting with minors.

CookieLoL is a major streamer on Twitch known for providing helpful advice and insights to League of Legends players. He currently has 141,000 followers on Twitch. The former pro player has remained at the top tier of competitive MOBA, but a 90-page document was recently released containing screenshots of CookieLoL mistreating its community.

CookieLoL accused of flirting with minors on Discord

The carefully crafted document describing CookieLoL’s behavior began with reams of screenshots of the streamer abusing his power by being “creepy” towards women in his Discord, including many claiming they were underage.

Cookielolxx has scammed countless mods/staff/viewers, made creepy sexual comments towards minors and women, we have created a document detailing this here https://t.co/yikOXPkwvS

CookieLoL was sued for flirting with minors in 2021 but denied the allegations. The screenshots show continued inappropriate conversations with minors, including talking about BDSM, labeling underage girls as “sex freak,” “pet,” and “cum slut,” and continuing sexual conversation with girls who admitted to being teenagers mid-conversation.

Cookie also allegedly posted pornographic images on Discord, which moderators had to quickly delete as its own rules said no sexual content was allowed on the server.

Screenshots continued showing Cookie speaking inappropriately to female members of his Discord. This included commenting on her weight, sending unsolicited sexual messages and admitting to abusive his partners.

CookieLoL is accused of manipulation, theft and lying

In addition to the inappropriate Discord behavior, a large portion of the document was devoted to discussing Cookie’s alleged lies to fans and sponsors, usually for financial gain.

Cookie once held a raffle on his Discord and promised to give away skins to anyone who subscribed to his Twitch channel – something that costs money. But in the document, prosecutors claim that CookieLoL didn’t skin anyone, even after discussing the issue with moderators.

Many screenshots also show how CookieLoL plans to scam its sponsors, namely Rise of Kingdoms and Raid: Shadow Legends. Cookie explained in some group DMs that he had created a group of bots to meet sponsorship quotas for the mobile games, explaining this as “hijacking billionaire funds”. He also tried using his own Manscaped discount code and then selling the products for a profit.

Other allegations involved multiple delays in payments from moderators and content editors. The late payments resulted in an employee being unable to pay his rent.

The document states: “It was common practice for Cookie to simply decline requests for payment, as he found it acceptable to delay payments by weeks or months. If you repeatedly asked for payments due, he would denounce, disregard, or simply ignore your message requests. He firmly believes that he is being generous in giving people the opportunity to work for him and therefore no one should hold him to his words/promises.ā€

CookieLoL responds to grooming and scamming allegations

After the League of Legends community began discussing the viral document, CookieLoL came forward to take “accountability” for his behavior. In his TwitLonger, Cookie explained that he was an immature 20-year-old at the time of the screenshots and not a good person.

CookieLoL first addressed the alleged conversations between underage girls, claiming that a “three-year age difference” in Sweden, where the age of consent is 15, is not that strange. He also admitted that he hadn’t had much sexual experience. but added that this was no excuse for his behavior.

“Also, while reading the room, I was s— but it was NEVER my intention to make her uncomfortable. I’m disgusted looking back at it. I’m not trying to justify this behavior in the slightest, but I wanted to give some context to my train of thought at the time. And I’m now aware that it’s completely wrong and I just feel disgusted looking back at what I typed and to whom,” Cookie explained.

Cookie then claimed that he’d always been “extremely bad with payments” throughout his career. This has resulted in him making promises he can’t keep “due to lack of money” and bills keep piling up. The streamer added that he’s trying to get better at this and continues to pay back those he owes money to.

“It doesn’t make up for the fact that I didn’t pay when I should have, but I’m doing my best to make it up to you now,” Cookie wrote.

I am ashamed of myself and deeply sorry for everyone who has been affected by my behavior over the past few years. I panicked and wrote a statement that probably felt disingenuous and wasn’t my intention. I’ll be talking about it all live on stream on April 15th at 7pm BST.

In the subsequent apology stream, Cookie continued to deny allegations that he was flirting with someone who was 13 at the time. However, he said he made many mistakes and apologized for his past behavior. CookieLoL told the 11,000 live viewers that he hated who he used to be, calling his behavior appalling and disgusting.

I say “felt pre-recorded” because I was told straight out that it wasn’t pre-recorded by anyone. So, that honestly makes it even crazier/non-touch for me.

However, the streaming community was not convinced of his innocence or sincerity, including IKeepItTaco, one of the women featured heavily in the 90-page document. She tweeted that the apology felt “pre-recorded,” and many of her followers agreed.

Since the livestream, CookieLoL has not commented on the ongoing controversy surrounding his actions and subsequent apologies.
