Claudia Winkleman, 50, shared her thoughts on kids wearing makeup in an exclusive interview Express.co.uk. Speaking about her own daughter, the Strictly Come Dancing star admitted she hopes today’s youngsters don’t “feel pressure” to live up to certain standards of beauty.
Claudia recently teamed up with her co-star Tess Daly, 53, to promote Boots No7 Pro Derm Scan.
The futuristic new diagnostic service aims to provide customers with accurate skincare and cosmetic recommendations based on a super close-up scan of their skin.
During the interview, Claudia was asked if she felt that in the age of social media, there was more pressure on people to look a certain way.
“I definitely don’t feel that,” Claudia began. “I feel like I could absolutely break down at this stage, but I don’t feel any pressure.
“I mean, I’d love to have shiny hair, but we know there’s a company that deals with that,” she teased. “So I guess that’s my job.”
The Strictly host then opened up about her own child’s attitude towards makeup.
“You know, my daughter is 15,” she mused.
“And I feel that quite strongly — well, she’s not really interested in wearing makeup or anything.
“She went through that phase,” added Claudia.
“I hope that the younger, little people who are coming through don’t feel any pressure to look a certain way.”
On the subject of skin care, Claudia was also asked if she thought she was a topic that young people should be concerned with.
“Oh, absolutely not,” she insisted. “You should be thinking about bubble gum and Harry Styles.”
Claudia lives with her husband Kris Thykier, whom she married in 2000, and the two are generally quite private about their personal lives.
Claudia and Kris share sons Jake and Arthur and daughter Matilda, aged approximately 18, 10 and 15 respectively.
Speaking about the nifty new scanning process at Boots UK, Claudia shared her thoughts on the results of her own skin scans.
“I thought it was going to hurt, but it didn’t — and it was really quick,” she excitedly revealed.
“And considering I have minus 15 vision, I’ve never seen anything this close up in my life.
“They said I need a moisturizer but they were very happy with me! I got a lot of greens, which made me very happy.”
