“It’s nobody’s business and honestly I’m glad I made that decision.”
Last month, the US Supreme Court quashed Roe v. Wade, ending the constitutional right to abortion. After nearly 50 years, SCOTUS reversed the landmark 1973 ruling, ruling that it is now up to states whether or not to ban abortion. The immediate public reaction was overwhelming, and many were outraged that women’s right to their own bodies could be so easily taken away.
While many took to the streets to protest the repeal of constitutional law, others took a more personal approach, sharing memories of their own abortions. Some brave celebrities even used their platform to reveal their own abortion stories and speak openly about what led to their decision. While it’s unclear what the future holds given the Supreme Court’s decision, it’s safe to say these celebs will always support women’s right to choose.
Here’s what these celebrities shared about their abortions…

1. Halsey
In a touching essay for Vogue, Halsey revealed they once had an abortion after suffering a miscarriage. The medically necessary procedure helped her body terminate the pregnancy entirely — an option many people had after the Roe v. Wade may not be available. Now that Halsey has become a mother, they say they insist even harder that people should have abortion rights.
“One of my miscarriages required a ‘follow-up’, a gentle way of saying I would need an abortion because my body could not terminate the pregnancy entirely on its own and without medical intervention I would risk going into sepsis. During that procedure I was scared for myself and helpless.I was desperate to end the pregnancy that was threatening my life…My abortion saved my life and made room for my son to have his.Every human being deserves the right to choose when if, and how, they have this dangerous and life-changing experience,” Halsey wrote.
2. Lily Allen
While discussing the Roe v. Wade shared with Lily Allen that she once had an abortion. Though she didn’t go into detail, she explained that she simply didn’t want to have a baby at the time and doesn’t believe women should justify why they need an abortion.
“I wish people would stop posting examples of extraordinary reasons for having an abortion. Most people I know, myself included, just didn’t want to have a damn baby. AND THAT’S REASON ENOUGH! WE DON’T HAVE TO JUSTIFY IT. It shouldn’t need to be said and I think all of these examples just play into the bad guys’ hands,” Lily wrote.

3. Cheryl Burke
Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke shared on TikTok that she had an abortion when she was 18. She explained that despite “safe sex” and contraception, she became pregnant. Knowing she “wouldn’t have made a great mom” and “was going through a really big change,” she made the decision to have an abortion.
“I was two weeks pregnant when I had an abortion. I remember rolling up to Planned Parenthood with pickets holding up anti-abortion signs, and that alone was traumatic. But to top it all off, the whole process is traumatic and the fact that it’s like this now, you’re making it illegal for us women to make that decision about our own bodies is absolutely insane… It’s nobody’s business and honestly I’m glad that I made this decision. I have no regrets, there’s no shame behind it. I just decided to share it now, but that doesn’t mean it was shameful,” Cheryl said.
4. Laura Prepon
Laura Prepon recently spoke candidly about her decision to have an abortion in 2020, when she and husband Ben Foster discovered their fetus’ brain and bones weren’t developing – and could put her life at risk. Despite calling her abortion “one of the worst days” of her life, she says she’s glad she had the choice and believes others should too.
“One of the worst days of my life was when I made the decision to terminate a pregnancy in the second trimester. The devastating truth is that we found out that the fetus would not survive to term and that my life was in danger too.” At the time – I had a choice. Everyone has their own story as to why they chose this medical procedure decided and I feel for everyone who has faced this impossible decision. I pray for all of us to get through this challenging time and regain authority over our own bodies,” Laura wrote.

5. Hilari Burton
Hilarie Burton shared that she once had an abortion after suffering a miscarriage and the medical procedure allowed her body to heal from the loss. Although she says it was a “painful day,” she knows it would have been “worse” if abortions had been illegal “and law enforcement had inspected my body to make sure I didn’t cause my own miscarriage.” “.
“Having an abortion after the death of my fetus allowed my uterus to heal in a way that made it healthy enough to carry future pregnancies. It doesn’t matter if you use the term D&C. The official word on the hospital records is abortion. That’s what it was… Row V Wade protected my right as a woman to have miscarriages without a test… I only have my daughter because of my abortion,” Hilarie wrote.
6. Jill Zarin
Jill Zarin recently opened up about her abortion, sharing that she was a teenager when she had the procedure. She says her life would have been very different if she hadn’t been able to have an abortion, and if she had gone through with the pregnancy and put the baby up for adoption, she would have spent her life wondering if it was a mistake.
“I had an abortion when I was in my late teens. And my life would have been so dramatically affected… It was my right to vote and how dare anyone take that away from me right away… We have to vote. We’re going to have to find judges who believe women have the right to vote,” Jill said in her Instagram story.

7. Brandi Glanville
During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live!” Alongside Jill Zarin, Brandi Glanville confirmed that she too had an abortion. After the show, she took to Twitter to explain the situation, sharing that she had the procedure when she was in high school.
“I’m not ashamed of my abortion and thank God I had a choice. I was 17 years old and in high school. I was in an emotionally abusive relationship and I took birth control pills and still got pregnant. I had a choice & I was just a kid myself,” Brandi wrote.
8th. Rita Moreno
Rita Moreno recently revealed that in the days leading up to Roe v. Wade suffered a botched abortion while pregnant with then-boyfriend Marlon Brando’s baby. At the time, abortion was illegal, but Marlon “through some friends found a doctor” who performed the procedure for $500. Despite going to a reputable doctor, she later began bleeding and was told the abortion was incomplete.
“Marlon took me to the hospital. I had, as they told me, a ‘faulty pregnancy’. The doctor really didn’t do anything except make me bleed. In other words, he didn’t do it right. I didn’t know it then, but I could have died. What a mess. What a terrible mess.” Rita told Variety.

9. Ireland Baldwin
On TikTok, Ireland Baldwin revealed that she had an abortion as a teenager after being raped. She says the traumatic situation “changed the course of events [her] Life” and instead of telling anyone, she says she “twisted” while holding on to the pain and guilt. Looking back, Ireland says she can’t imagine what would have happened if she had had to raise a baby during that time.
“I’ve been drinking a lot more, partying a lot more, self-medicating, been in other abusive and toxic relationships and friendships. I did pretty much anything to distract myself. Seeing so many other brave women sharing their stories made me think about what my life would have been like if I had gotten pregnant and with all that I was going through then I had to raise a baby. Mind you, I have medical resources, money and support that many women don’t have access to. It would have been just traumatizing and impossible,” Ireland said.
Ireland also shared that she became pregnant at a different time but chose to have an abortion as her boyfriend didn’t want a child – and she knew ‘exactly what it felt like to be born between two people who hated each other’ .
10 Phoebe Bridger
When a draft of the Roe v. Wade leaked, musician Phoebe Bridgers revealed she had an abortion last year. She explained that the process is easy — and everyone deserves to have that kind of access.
“I had an abortion last October while on tour. I went to Planned Parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that kind of access,” she said wrote on twitter.
