A growing number of celebrities are showing their support for Beto O’Rourke ahead of the November 8 Texas gubernatorial election. O’Rourke is the Democratic challenger to Republican incumbent Greg Abbott, who has served in his role as Texas governor since 2015.
In 2018, many famous names supported O’Rourke as he attempted to win the US Senate race in Texas against Ted Cruz. Remember when Grammy-winning Texan BeyoncĂ© wore an O’Rourke hat on her Instagram a week before the election? We do it.
Now in 2022, O’Rourke continues to garner big votes on his side. Here’s who showed their support:

Harry Styles
British pop singer Harry Styles endorsed O’Rourke as Governor of Texas during his concert at the Moody Center in Austin on Sunday, October 2, according to fans of the show. Twitter user HSD Love On Tour tweeted that Styles put a “Beto for Texas” sticker on his guitar.
The “As It Was” singer has been vocal about his views on Texas politics and law while staying in Austin for six nights at the Moody Center, dubbed Harry’s House. Towards the end of his sold-out show on Sept. 26, he repeated a mantra that had slipped out of his mouth the night before: “Nobody can tell you what to do with your own body,” he said, pointing to the nosebleed. “It’s yours.” Ecstasy doesn’t even come close to describing the reaction Styles’ vague but powerful words evoked.
Markus Ruffalo
Actor Mark Ruffalo best known for playing The Hulk in The Avengers Movies, tweeted that he’s right behind Styles on the O’Rourke affair. He tweeted, “Bring a friend to the polls, y’all!”
This isn’t the first time Ruffalo has spoken out about Texas politics. In May, he also urged Texas to go out and vote for progressive nominee Jessica Cisneros, who was hoping to unseat incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar in District 28. However, she did not win the race.
Willy Nelson
Willie Nelson endorsed O’Rourke during the “Vote ‘Em Out” campaign rally in Austin on Sunday, October 2nd. Nelson has a history of political support, including one for O’Rourke in 2018.
Earlier this year, Nelson and O’Rourke also reunited at Nelson’s annual Fourth of July picnic celebrations at Q2 Stadium.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick
Hollywood power couple Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker hosted a fundraiser for O’Rourke at their New York City home in September. Scott Braddock of Quorum Report reported.
Guests paid either $5,000 or $10,000 for tickets to the event, which Quorum Report said O’Rourke personally attended.
In 2018, Parker was also photographed wearing an O’Rourke campaign button at a film festival in New York.
