
ACTOR Troy Montero and TV Host Kim Atienza are taking a break from their busy schedules to grace the Asics Rock ‘n’ Roll (RnR) Running Series, which has a positive impact on youth when it rounds on June 19th takes place around Manila’s famous sights and landmarks.
Montero, a well-known fitness fan with his celebrity partner Aubrey Miles, has competed in a number of triathlon events organized by the Ironman Group, while Atienza, a stroke survivor, has been basking in fitness transformation for the past decade Has.
Although the world’s largest running series, sponsored by Asics, is effectively a fun running event, the celebrity duo made themselves available to inspire not only weekend and recreational runners, but youth as well, to take a mental break from their little ones insert display devices.
This is the first time the event has been staged in four categories – 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km – in Southeast Asia and in post-pandemic Asia, attracting a happy mix of runners who also want the thrill and want to experience the excitement of the night races with bands, music and entertainment all along the route.
Montero, an Asics endorser, will compete in the 42K, while Atienza will compete in the 10K.
Unlike regular marathons, the RnR series combines running and endurance with partying and a concert with organizers to fill each course with music, live bands, cheer teams and drumlines to ensure a fun and exciting staging of the event .
It’s actually an all-day affair in a historic city atmosphere, with the 5km and 10km races firing off in the early morning and the 21km and 42km races in the late afternoon.

Fees are P950 for the 5km, P1,850 for the 10km, P2,450 for the half marathon and P2,650 for the 42km run. For the Remix Challenge, the prizes are P3,600 for Marathon +5K, P4,100 for Marathon +10K, P3,800 for Half Marathon +5K and P3,400 for Half Marathon +10K.
The race, sponsored by Gatorade as the official water supply partner and Alaska, Lightwater, Regent and Sante, and being held as part of the city’s 450th anniversary, begins in Rizal Park, where a wreath-laying ceremony for the national hero will take place at 8:00 am. It goes through the National Museum Complex, Intramuros, Manila Cathedral, Manila City Hall, Kartilya ng Katipunan, Jones Bridge and Chinatown in Binondo, the walled city of Intramuros and back to Rizal Park.
