joy ride stars the actress as a lawyer named Joy, who finds herself in the backseat of a cab next to a baby who has been hijacked by a 12-year-old boy. The boy in question, Mully, was carrying a wad of cash and was dying to get as far away from his father as possible.
But as this unlikely couple travels around Ireland, the dramatic circumstances of their meeting slowly give way to a growing friendship between them as they help each figure out what they’ve both been missing from their lives.

Emer Reynolds, director of documentaries such as Songs for While I’m Away and publishers of films such as my name is emilyShe was behind the camera for this film, which is coming to theaters 29th of July.
Though Colman has appeared in countless films and TV shows, she admitted last year that there’s one aspect of acting that still terrifies her: live performances.
“I worry that when I get older and a little more recognizable, if you screw up and say, ‘We went to see this person that we saw on TV, all these people will watch; not so good on stage.’ ” She said. “I think I built it up so much. I loved it. I have to get over it.

“That moment just before the lights go out: ‘I hate this job, I hate myself and I’m going to throw up or pee and suddenly you’re on stage. It’s a horrible feeling.”
As it turns out, Colman actually had such an accident on stage once, so you could say her fear was justified.
