Battlegrounds Mobile Game Now Has 100 Million Users in India: Krafton

Game developer Krafton announced Friday that its popular battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has surpassed 100 million registered users.

The game developer also said that BGMI has been the most popular game in India for a year. “The first year of BGMI was a resounding success with millions of players attending to experience the game. We have launched major tournaments and Indian-themed collaborations, and celebrated india-centric events with the community with the goal of curating gameplay that is unique to our Indian users,” said Changhan Kim, CEO of Krafton, Inc, in a statement.

“We are positive about the opportunities in the country and strive to create a robust gaming ecosystem. Our focus is on constantly improving the mobile gaming experience for our growing community and investing in the thriving startup landscape here,” added Kim.

Last year, the game developer invested nearly $100 million to improve India’s local video game, esports and entertainment startups and build a healthy gaming startup ecosystem. Krafton also said that 4 Pro and Semi-Pro tournaments (BMOC, recently completed BMPS Season 1, BGIS Season 2 and BMPS Season 2) will be held in 2022 with cash prizes of Rs 6 crore while players across India will have one platform is offered to present their skills.
