The Supreme Court assists the coach in praying on the pitch after games
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court says a high school football coach who knelt and prayed on the field after games is protected by the constitution. It’s a decision opponents say will open the door to “much more enforced prayer” in public schools. The court ruled 6-3 in favor of the coach with the court’s conservative judges in a majority and its liberals in dissent. The majority of the judges emphasized that the coach’s prayer took place after the end of the game. The liberal minority judges said there was evidence the coach’s prayer at the 50-yard line had a coercive effect, allowing him to infuse his “personal religious beliefs into a school event.”
