In addition to the hottest new anime series and simulcasts, Crunchyroll is collaborating with Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. through Sony Music Entertainment in the United States. This allows the company’s Japanese music to be licensed for wider accessibility in the anime streamer’s collection. Newly launched content includes “iconic performances by well-known and contemporary artists.” Fans have access to short music videos and “more than 100 full-length live concerts”. The artists included in the announcement are Aimer, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, LiSA and Hiroyuki Sawano, although there will be many others.

LiSA is the artist of hit opening anime songs like “Gurenge”. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and “Crossing Field” off Sword Art Online. Aimer has also done a lot of musical work for anime, including the ending song of chainsaw man “Deep Down”, and the bleaching Closing song “Re: Pray”. The Asian Kung Fu Generation won an American Anime Award in 2007 for the Fullmetal Alchemist Theme “Rewrite” and the composer Hiroyuki Sawano provided the music attack on Titan. These and many other songs have become staples for anime fans, making Crunchyroll’s new partnership a good move. Accessing Japanese music content in North America has not always been easy. Crunchyroll subscribers can already catch a live performance of ASCA singing “Resister” – the theme song from the second season of Sword Art Online: Alicization.

Although there is no western radio time, anime fans have spent countless hours listening to and sharing their favorite opening and ending themes. This partnership with Sony Music Entertainment will provide more access than ever before, connecting music faster to fans around the world. Hopefully this opens the door to more ways for anime fans around the world to connect with the content they love and more ways to interact with it. crispy roll Subscribers can now access music content anime Streamer service.
