Taking advantage of popular music streaming platform Spotify, Blaney has curated weekly playlists that reflect local culture and fan preferences in various racing markets. From Southern California to Kansas, Florida to New York, Blaney’s playlists are carefully curated to feature bands and songs that resonate with each region.
For the New Hampshire race, Blaney had prepared a special Lobster State playlist.
“This #LocalTracks playlist is just ‘MAGIC’ this week. We ‘FISH’ all things ‘aquatic’ and dive into the house of Loudon the lobster. 🦞” he posted on Twitter on July 14.
But it looks like someone hacked into the playlist and completely changed it, which makes the Coca-Cola 600 2023 winner quite furious.
Initially, Blaney would compile a selection of songs himself, then reach out to fans on Twitter, asking for their suggestions. However, as the 2023 season progressed, Blaney took his engagement with the fans one step further.
It allowed its subscribers to directly edit playlists, allowing them to add songs spanning all genres and styles, creating a collaborative music experience. Speaking to Heavy, Blaney explained how the idea came about.
“His name is Justin. He works for me. He kind of had this idea and thought it would be good. It started initially with me and him choosing artists or bands in the general area where we were running.
“And then we thought, “Well, that would be cool for the fans to pick their favorite artists from the region or even just a song that they like that kind of describes the region we’re racing in this weekend..'”
