There are many Marvel Cinematic Universe movies!
They currently have 28 films, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home the youngest to hit theaters. They also have a strong lineup of Disney+ original series like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Loki, and WandaVision. There’s a lot of Marvel content to catch up on if you don’t watch it when it comes out, and we want to make sure you’re as prepared as possible for Marvel’s latest film. Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie hits theaters next month, so here’s everything we think you should see!
Let’s go through everything you should see before you see Thor: Love and Thunder when it comes to theaters on July 8th. This list will go from least important to most important. So if you check out at least the first few, you should be set!
Table of Contents
Thor: Ragnarok you have to look at it beforehand Thor: Love and Thunder! The 2017 film was the third installment in the Thor films and the first to be directed love and thunder Director, Taika Waititi. This film marked a significant change in tone for Thor and is one of the most colorful and fun films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by Waititi love and thunder, we can expect some of the same humor and lightness. This was a major turning point for Thor’s character and an important watch ahead of the next film. It also introduces Korg and Valkyrie, who we know will appear in it love and thunder!
Avengers: Endgame will probably be very important Thor: Love and Thunder. That was the last time we saw Thor, so we’re predicting that love and thunder will reference the events of that movie and let us know where Thor has been. Thor has had a very emotional journey through this film and we’re pretty sure he’ll be in it love and thunder.
endgame is also the biggest MCU event to date, and it’s been referenced in almost every Marvel project that’s come out since the film’s release in 2019. Being familiar with this movie is very important to understand the universe!
Avengers: Infinity War
We would also recommend watching Avengers: Infinity War. Thor has some great moments in this movie such as getting Stormbreaker and meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time. We know the Guardians will be there love and thunderand that is the origin of their relationship!
Thor also experiences many losses in this film, which have greatly affected his development as a character, so this is definitely not the film to miss!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 was the last Guardians film to be released. As we have seen them since Infinite War and endgamethe second film in their lineup, is very important to the dynamic of the group.
Throughout the film, we see the Guardians band together and grow as a group, and because we will see them love and thunderit’s nice to know what events created their momentum.
Thor: The Dark World
OK, we admit it. We don’t like the first two Thor movies as much as Thor: Ragnarok, but these films still set important aspects of Thor’s story. The Dark World specifically depicts key moments in Thor’s relationships with Jane Foster and Loki.
Natalie Portman will return as Jane Foster Thor: Love and Thunderand The Dark World was the last time she was in the MCU, so we’re excited to see what she’s been up to all this time!
In case you haven’t seen the first one Thor movie, it shouldn’t be too harmful for your understanding Thor: Love and Thunderbut it’s still important to Thor’s plot!
In this film we meet Thor, Loki, Jane, Odin and more, and with Marvel you never know when they’ll throw in a deep-cut reference from another film.
Aside from being one of the most iconic Marvel movies of all time, The Avengers has some great moments between Thor and Loki! The brothers go head-to-head as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes defend New York City from an alien invasion.
This film also marks the first time Thor meets Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man and the Hulk (he had a brief encounter with Hawkeye in the first Thor movie.) Most notable is Thor’s relationship with Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, which was central to the story Thor: Ragnarok, started here.
Guardians of the Galaxy
If you want to know how all the Guardians of the Galaxy met before you see them Thor: Love and Thunderthen 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy is the right place. This is the origin movie for the unlikely bunch and a super fun watch.
The Guardians of the Galaxy have such a fun found family dynamic and this film explains how they all met!
2021 Loki Series that premiered on Disney+ takes place quite separately from Thor’s story. In this series, 2012 Loki mistakenly uses the Tesseract for time travel and gets caught by the Time Variance Authority or the TVA. The rest of the series is pretty low key, and while the series ending has huge implications for the future of the MCU as a whole, we’re not sure any of that will show up love and thunder.
That love and thunder Characters would have no idea of the events of Loki because their Loki is a different Loki than the one in the show. Pretty easy, right? From what we’ve seen in the trailers, Thor: Love and Thunder doesn’t appear to have any multiverse or TVA implications, but if you love the character it’s still worth watching!
Team Thor and Team Daryl shorts
That Team Thor and Team Daryl Shorts are just fun! That’s all! They are super fun short films that you can find on Disney+ and have a similar sense of humor to Waititi’s Thor.
If you love Thor then this is a super fun watch, but it is very very unlikely to have any major impact on Thor: Love and Thunder.
That’s All the Movies, Short Films, and Shows You Should Watch Before You See Them Thor: Love and Thunder! Again, these are ordered from least important to most important. So if you just go through the first few you should still be able to get the hang of them love and thunder! Stay tuned to AllEars for more Marvel updates!
